The Pirates dumping McCutchen and going back to the Glory days of the McClatchy era made me think of our September kick times since we have to work around Nutting.

September 1: Pirates @ Braves. I would say our game vs Albany should start at 6:00 PM, breaking the string of about 18 noon home starts in a row and giving us our first Saturday night game since 1987.

September 8: Pirates vs Marlins at 7:05. Pitt/PSU will kick at noon

September 15: Pirates @ Brewers. This will be our ACC opener. Hopefully a home game that doesn't start at noon

September 22: Pirates vs Brewers 7:05. Hopefully we are on the road in an ACC game this day.

September 29: @ UCF. 7:30 on CBSSN, I'm sure. Or maybe Friday night on ESPN. Guaranteed prime time, sold-out, crowd all hyped up game

both the Bucs and Marlins will eliminated by Sept 8, so why can't pitt swing a deal to have a night kick?
bucs get access to the lots on game day per their lease agreement. They trump Pitt in regards to this. Pitt actually leases lots from Steelers.

Pirates are guaranteed lots before and after game time for 2 hours. Ownsership could change game time but they aren’t giving up a Saturday night game to appease Pitt football.

It’s little details like this I remember when Pitt fans claim that heinz field isn’t controlled by Steelers and they talk about the sports exhibition authority. We are tenants in every way, shape and form and the Rooney’s are the landlord.

another reason that the Pirate ownership sucks, how many will they draw for a Sat N game vs the only team as bad as they will be? Would moving one game hurt them that badly?

You are preaching to the choir. No one screams more about noon home games than me. I hate the sun. I’m serious, I hate it.

Why do we care if the games are at the same time? Who says they can't be? There will be at most 800 people in the stands for a September 2018 Pirates game and 200 will be employees and 40 will be family.

Of course, Pitt kick time won't matter to Pitt since they will have a full house even if they kicked off at 2 AM. Wonder if Pitt management would even reach out to the Bucs, but oh wait, Nutting is a Hoopie, so why would he do anything that Pitt would request?

Rumor was Pitt and ESPN asked nutting to move pirate game in ‘16 early so they could move Pitt - psu to national prime time evening slot but nutting declined.

I have no idea if this was rumor or truth. I’m just assuming it is so I have another reason to hate nutting.

I doubt that's true. If I'm Pitt, I tell ESPN to schedule Pitt/PSU anytime they want. If its at 3:30, oh well, thats before the Pirates start. Pirates fans cant park anywhere. Sucks for them. If its 8PM ABC, schedule it. Nutting will have no choice but to move his game, attended by 10K people to 1:05.

Nobody is going to be at a meaningless Pirate game in Sept. Scedule the Pitt game whenever u want. F’ Nutting! Boycott the Pirates if u truly care about them. Go on strike, and picket the area near PNC .

But you are forgetting the Pgh fireworks factor. They will sell out, with Sat fireworks, sporting a record of 10-135 and facing the Dormont Donuts.

There is zero chance that Nutting moves the game. Early Pitt games are a money maker for him, and everyone knows how much he loves money. I'm sure he requested to be home the weekend of Pitt-PSU.

It won't stop until Pitt calls his bluff. Schedule the game at the same time and let the parking sort itself out. You tell people you can't guarantee their parking for this game. Nobody will go the Pirates game anyway, so plenty of spots will be available.

Even If no buccos, espn would have to want it at night. Doesn't matter what we want.. Pitt has requested a couple times to 1235 but bucs need huge amount of time which abc rarely gaurantees.
They did in 05 for ND which was announced 8p well in advance.
They did in 10 for Miami but then espn scheduled it thurs night anyway.
It sucks when they both play as the 330 slot is out and forget bucs changing after mlb schedule posted.

Of course the problem with your "logic" is that if the Pirate game would start at 7:00 then the parking lots will not be open until 3:00. That would make it kind of interesting when all the Pitt fans who want to park on the North Side would either not be able to or would have to wait until a half hour before kickoff to get into the lots. Yeah, no one will complain about that.

My point is. Its Pitt/PSU. There will be 70K there regardless whether they have to ride the T, walk, swim, etc. Schedule it WHENEVER ESPN wants it and let Nutting decide if he wants to go head to head with a primetime Pitt/PSU game. Remember, even if Pirates fans are guaranteed parking for a Pirates/Marlins game opposite a Pitt/PSU primetime game, even a lot of diehard Pirate fans would stay away due to the traffic or simply wanting to watch Pitt/PSU in person or on TV

You’re dealing wif a Hoopie who doesn’t give a flying leap at the moon about Pitt.

Why even have these threads about Pitt v Bucco game time.

Oh wait

So SMF can talk about the same stupid Shite ad nauseam

The lots are leased, even if they’re empty from pirate game, we won’t have access to them. They’ll just be empty.

60,000 fans will be parking on the streets in the northside and on Carson Street and take in the boat across, that’s not ideal

The bottom line is that Steve Pederson and Mark Nordenberg sold Pitt fans a sh*t sandwich by moving football games to the North Shore. We are now at the scheduling mercy of one of the worst organizations in baseball. Don't blame Nutting for making smart business decisions. He needs the attendance increases because the Pirates are going to be near the bottom this coming season. And stop pretending that Pitt administrators have the nuts to play hardball and schedule a game head to head with the Pirates. They would never do that. It's easier to keep your high salary and pretend that Pitt has a great thing going on the North Side. I would do the same. "We have a great facility in Heinz Field and a great relationship with the Pirates. We have happy to be their beyatch every single year. Thank you sir may I have another? Cha ching!"

Pitt could ask bucs to request mlb to be away a certain weekend with enough notice which they would have had for something like psu or upcoming wvu.
mlb starts making schedules 1-2 yrs in advance.

Why would they? I bet he would make more money selling the additional parking to those attending the Pitt-Penn State game then he would make moving the game to noon for example.

nutting doesn't own the lots.. come on guys, we can throw a bunch of crap out here but lets have some basis of truth here..

He wont care. Since he controls lots he will just cash in. So instead of your Pitt parking pass getting you into the lot you will be paying the Pirates. In addition how upset would donors be that they can’t park in their assigned lot.

As someone that pays money and donates for my lease, I'd be pissed if I couldn't park.

Of course he doesn’t own them. His lease with the Stadium Authority gives him access and control of the lots. The lease is publically available on their website.

he cant resell leases to lots that are already bought?? People are saying he should double dip, since pirate fans wont go, he should sell them to pitt fans. not sure but I cant imagine this is legal or even logistically an option.

What people are saying is that he not going to resell any leases. What people are saying is that if he controls the lot he is able to charge everyone to park as if they were attending the pirate game. He won’t care which game you attend but if you park in the north shore you are going to pay him. He not going to sublet the lots to Pitt. Just charge everyone without a pirates parking pass the game day rate.

well yeah, you purchased something and well, you want it. If you pay me to cut your grass, and I don't, youd be upset. If I paid up front for an airplane ticket, and got there and my seat was taken and I didn't get reimbursed, I'd be upset..

those lots are already sold to pirate fans. this isn't first come first serve. it's not the first people that show up get in, whether they are pirate fans, psu fans, pitt fans, marlin fans or some dude who wants to rent a kayak on the river. the leases are sold to pirate fans as part of the tix package. they are sold, you cant resell them.

Insane. Should be 8pm Pitt-PSU

I am guessing you did not look at the national schedule that day. If you did, you would see that Clemson-Texas A & M, along with UCLA (with Chip Kelly)-Oklahoma are scheduled as well

The last time slot Pitt will be playing in is 8PM

Not every lot on the north shore is via pass. They still have plenty of game day parking.

hmm, I was unaware of this. I park in the north shore garage for work, that is lease on game day and that's hell and gone from Heinz. I think it's blue 10, might be off on that. The gold and red lots are lease, maybe the green ones on the other side are pay? This is for football, honestly, I cant say for sure if that's the case for pirate games.
