is there any player from this year's squad that you want to see return next year? Anyone?

As I reflect back on the team's 12-2 beginning and now 4-12 finish (almost), I can't say there is any one player that I would regret losing to the transfer portal; even Lowe. And this is in no way a knock on them as a good or decent person and/or a sometimes good or decent basketball player

If I did have to rank a couple that I would like to see come back (providing, there is a much-improved front court) it's Beebah and Amsal. The Kante project has clearly not worked out (this year, anyway), and I think he'd be a better fit at the mid-major level. The twins have not taken even the slightest "great leap forward", and since they will probably want to go as a "package", maybe there is a mid-major program they could land at; Corhen needs to find another spot for his last year of eligibility; and Jaland will likely find an offer to play for UM or get some outrageous coin from another team that could use him in a supporting role. IMO, Jaland is not a floor "leader" despite his, at times, ridiculous ability

Is Dunn done? Has he used up the last of his eligibility? Ditto with Austin? I am pretty certain that Leggett is in his final collegiate season, unless the NCAA finds a way to continue letting players compete at the "college" level despite being in their early to mid-20's and having no further interest in going to class

It will be quite interesting to see how this all plays out once the portal is open, the tournament is over, Capel meets with Greene and Gabel, and the decision on the university's part to either pay or not pay top dollar for better talent, going forward. Fasten your seat belts and this might be a bumpy ride

1. Lowe - I don't care what people say. He has a lot of talent and has a very high ceiling

2. Cummings

3. GDG - even if he is relegated to a backup role, you won't get a better reserve big

4. Delalic - no chance he comes back but he has shown a little something. Wouldn't mind if he returned

That's pretty much the list.

I would like to see Cummings return, but I have no confidence that Capel can develop him. With Capel coming back for Year 8, it just feels like what's the point of anything? It's depressing.

Lowe had such promise last year, and has had one of the most disappointing sophomore efforts we've ever endured. Under Capel's tutelage, Lowe regressed into Xavier Johnson.

IMO, Jaland is not a floor "leader" despite his, at times, ridiculous ability (cut and pasted from my OP). If he indeed has a higher ceiling (and that could be debated) he'll need to show it with a cast of better players around him. And that ain't gonna happen in Capel 8 unless Joan and the BOT write some blank checks

GDG (and Jorge) may not have anywhere else to go, and Pitt will be "stuck" with them for their Senior year. Again, two great guys and teammates whose skill sets just don't fit at the ACC/P5 level. How good would either be as a reserve when there isn't anyone better (for now, at least) to sub in for?

I think Lowe needs to move off of the ball. Perhaps Capel can sell him on that and bring in a PG. Even if you can get a guy like Nelly, who would be very cheap, that could make all the difference.

Why would Lowe ever agree to move to the 2? His ultimate goal is the NBA. You think he has a better chance of making it as a 2?

Cummings is it. I want someone who I would think cares about making this a winning program, so I want him all four years. Other than that, I don't care. Lowe is a good player, but he needs to be surrounded by talent - talent we won't have. So I'll pass on watching him try to Jordan it up every game again.

Beebah and Amsal. I'm still very intrigued by Amsal's talents. He just needs experience and has to be reined in a bit. He takes some silly, ill-advised shots at times. I agree with SMF regarding Lowe. We're better if he comes back. He just can't be *the* guy. Too much was put on his shoulders this year. But I expect him to be gone. I think we need to clean house on the front court except for maybe Kante. At least he brings a defensive mindset we need there. He deserves more of a shot to see what he can do.
