Serves them right if So. Cal

True! Watch the original broadcast on YouTube sometime; it had to be the ugliest looking Super Bowl ever as far as crappy venue and weather. The lights seemed the caliber of those Pitt rented for the first nighters at Pitt Stadium. Oddly that suited the Steelers of that time very well though.

Rice Stadium and the old Stanford Stadium also hosted a Super Bowl. It's come a long way since the 'Up With People' halftime show.

The dump that was the old Orange Bowl, too. That’s where Broadway Joe made good on his boast he’d beat the Colts.

Did Addison opt out of the game?
Riley said he injured his ankle in the PAC Championship game.

He didn’t travel to the game, and is training for the draft, so you guess is as good as mine if he really is injured, or they just didn’t want to say he opted out.

It was the third super bowl played there in the 70s and the home field of the Saints...wasn't like they settled for an emergency location..
In essence, they did ”settle”. The game was supposed to be the first event at the Superdome, but it wasn’t finished on time. The game would have been scheduled to be played elsewhere if they knew the Superdome wasn’t going to be ready. So, yes, they did settle.

The city won the game. It would not have been rescheduled as it was known well in advance the Superdome was nowhere near completion.....they played it in the NFL stadium that hosted the game in 70 and 72 and not some farm pasture..
