Shovel Passes to the TE in the NFL

Pitt had to start this trend, right? Lots of people watching the Clemson game last year? Gruden has given us props once or twice.

Gruden is still getting a lot of chatter about being the next UT coach.

Fun Fact: He hasn't coached in the college game since he was the Receiver's Coach at, you guessed it, Pitt, in 1991.

NFL teams have been using the shovel pass to motion receivers, H backs and TEs for years. In the NFL it’s a short yardage or goal line play.

It’s been an occasional play for sure, but Gruden was talking about how popular it is now during the game last night when it was used for a TD inside the 5. It definitely seems way more popular since late last season.

Gruden has a sweet gig, getting paid big bucks to do what we do for free, talk football. Why give that up to kiss the behinds of 18 year old high school students? If Gruden wants to coach, he can probably get the Giants job, which is better than any college job, including Notre dame.
