Even without a passing attack and questionable speed on d we nearly won. Imagine when these recruit are ready to play, will be good
Slappy post of the season so far.Even without a passing attack and questionable speed on d we nearly won. Imagine when these recruit are ready to play, will be good
I don't think today shows that we can compete with anybody. I think it shows just the opposite. OK STATE has only won 2 of their last 6 games going back to last year. They lost 45-35 to Baylor, 58-23 to OU, and 48-20 to Ole Miss. After beating SE Louisiana, they lose to CMU before squeaking out a win today.
So.you agree then.that penn state cant compete against us? As another poster said you stood behind oenn state last week. We werre penn state this week.and yire still negative?
We could lose 7 this year , or we could only lose 3, this team is so very unpredictable in my opinion
Even without a passing attack and questionable speed on d we nearly won. Imagine when these recruit are ready to play, will be good
I have thought that exact same thing almost every year since 2010. However, I think this team is better than that. I don't think they will do any worse than 8-4 in regular season. 7-5 is the absolute worst case scenario for this team.
So in the past, where I've said between 5 to 8 wins, I think this team wins between 7 and 10.
Look at the games that could be toss ups, and the games that are wins and loses , and tell me we can't lose 6
More likely to go 7-5 or 6-6. Penn State is really an average team between 35-45 in the country. G tech and V tech are the questions. For me ....
Wins: Marshall, UVA, Cuse
Toss ups : G tech , V Tech, Duke
Losses: UNC, Clemson, Miami
So, if I had to say right now, I will go 8-4.
= "We're headed in the right direction", IMO.I'm on board with the current staff and I think there is potential for a bright future at Pitt.

I agree by the way, as Pitt is not there yet, but considering that OKl. St. is a bad match-up with this defense and an emotional win last week , Pitt is making progress.
I think you are very knowledgeable and I mean it.I agree, we are making progress, just don't like the OC hire at all, but I need to understand Duzz does, for some reason, and he knows more than me.

I will reserve judgement on the veracity of this statement until after the Clemson game. If we can go to their house and play a competitive game, then I'll agree. The only thing I think this game absolutely proved is that our secondary is really bad.Even without a passing attack and questionable speed on d we nearly won. Imagine when these recruit are ready to play, will be good
They threw for 540 yards against our defense and your belief is we lost the game because of offensive deficiencies? You sure you didn't mean we didn't have the defensive horses? If so, I agree with your post. They looked plenty good on offense to.me. great qb, great wr, very experiebce oline.
Everyone knew.going in we didnt havr the offensive horses to win
No. I'm not negative. I just disagree with the notion that today "proves we can play with anybody" because we clearly can't.
I hate to hear the phrase "headed in the right direction" because, IMHO, I think that is one of the dumbest phrases in sports. However, I'm on board with the current staff and I think there is potential for a bright future at Pitt.
The reason today's loss stings so much and is so discouraging, is because I think Pitt had the potential to be one of this year's paper tigers, much like last year's UNC team. A flawed team that can reel off a lot of wins and play an exciting brand of football, and make a lot of noise before getting exposed. (because no, we aren't ready to play with college football's elite) Because honestly, I think Pitt can beat UNC and then they would have been favored to go into Miami 8-0.
Pitt can still put together a nice season and take a big step foward this year. Today knocked a little shine off that though.
Stood behind PSU? It depends on what you mean. I think PSU fought hard last week & I think their offense is obviously much improved over last year. They are horrible defensively and lack talent. Overall they still suck. I'd be surprised if Michigan didn't beat the living hell out of them next week. Like Pitt, they are improving, but they are still bad. I think Pitt is better than the Nits right now.

I'm so confused - you say Pitt is "improving" but "not headed in the right direction". Which one is it?
Fair enough - I think calling a team improving and headed in the right direction is the same thing, but we can differ.I never said Pitt "was not headed in the right direction". I only said I hated that expression.
