what Pitt recruit where you most excited to get ?

I'll go with
1-Larry Fitzgerald
2-Tyler Boyd
3-HB Blades
Remember waiting on the computer to see where they decided to go .
Anyways H2P

Rod Rutherford was as excited as I’ve ever been about a recruit.

I was taking an English lit class in cathedral when he was gonna announce. Some western expansion horse *** class and I actually got there early so I could grab a seat by the door so I could sneak out to hear his announcement.

I couldn’t wait the extra 20 minutes for my class to end.

Fitz’s prep year took some of the drama away. I remember just hoping he wouldn’t go to tosu. Palko committed early too so that was drama free.

Purifoy and Brandon Williams, I remember being excited about them. Picciotti I was more surprise than anything. Why a bad ass, 230lb fullback would commit to Walt Harris. After he signed, I got visions of mike Alstott.

I was so excited when 4-star RB Chris James and 4-star WR Adonis Jennings committed.

Oh, well...
Was about to say don’t know most excited, but most excited to most disappointed ratio was probably Chris James.

edit: Now I know what Pitt recruit I was most excited about. Bobby Engram as WR coach.

Looking at Shadys stats ....... they were crazy good for 2 years.
Him and Fitz would have been LEGENDS ala 33 if they stayed all 4, along with DeJuan Blair.
Year School Conf Class G Att Yds Avg TD
2007 PitttBig East FR RB 12 276 1328 4.8 14
*2008 Pitt Big East SO RB 13 308 1488 4.8 21
Him and dion Lewis, even if they came back a third year, both would be easily #2 and 3 on Pitts list of all time rushing yards.

But he didn’t precede me. Ha.
Grew up in West Mifflin, and we used to play Hopewell. Knew who he was, before there was a “Web site”
I played against Tony in high school as well.

When Tony was a sophomore, and before he made a name for himself as a great running back, Tony started on defense as a Monster Back.

During our first Defensive Recognition session, where our coaches introduced Hopewell's defensive schemes and tactics to us, our Offensive Line Coach emphatically pointed Tony out. He repeated over and over again, each time with more emphasis saying, "You got to stick this kid and prevent him from coming off your block. This little guy is so damn quick, that if you don't maintain your block and neutralize him, he'll live in our backfield and shut down our offense!"

Our coach never made a big deal like that about any other opposing player, before or after Tony. That's why this moment stood out to me and I've never forgotten it.

Shell is a great call. Ridiculously excited about landing him.

Shell gets my vote too. Keep in mind the context of his recruitment. Pitt was in the middle of some hideous coaching turnover and the recruiting situation was at rock bottom. There was just a sense that it would take a minor miracle to get shell to actually commit and then honor his commitment. But he did.

Fitzgerald. There was some national buzz for him. Not being a "local" also added to some of that. He wasn't merely committing to us because he wanted his mom at every game.

He lived up. Unfortunately for us (fortunately for him) the rules only kept him here 2 years.

Ok eliminate Dorsett, and my average goes way down.
He didn't precede me either but the OP referred to the recruiting website years. I live about 3 miles from the Pitt- Johnstown campus and went over there many times to watch TD and the others in pre-season camp. I was there on the hillside when TD took his first pitchout in Pitt's first scrimmage and exploded down the right sideline. The fans on the hillside erupted. Still one of my favorite moments as a Pitt fan.

Tyler Palko and Brandon Williams are probably top two and bunch that would be third on my list.

1. Piccotti - left Pitt because of lou and not concussions. Played 2 seasons at URI and was all conference. I was very excited when we landed him.

2. Mick Williams - highlight tape looked like a video game.

3. Elijah Fields - so dissapointed.

4. Rashad Jennings - loved his film when Walt landed him out of nowhere. Shame dw saw him as a fullback.

5. Princell Brockenboro - was the #1 Juco who was supposed to be freakishly talented prior to injury.

6. Charles Spencer - my brother coached against him in hs. I heard tales of his ability for years prior to coming to pitt.

Concussions caused Picciotti to lose his desire to play.

Palko. Not only was he a local star at the most important position but he was so young, I was hoping he would bring in a bunch of talent with him.

I'd also like to add the fact the HCPC was a run first guy who would give a guy 30 carries a game and I saw Shell running for 2000 yards per year just on system alone. Damn how things turned out..
