Piccotti - Injuries were the biggest issue. He was hurt at both places.

A fullback at Pittsburgh, he left the team after suffering a concussion in August 2002 ... lettered as a true freshman in 2000.

Tyler Palko and Brandon Williams are probably top two and bunch that would be third on my list.
Brandon Williams was a nice recruit but I could never understand the people who were making him out to be the second coming of TD. I thought he was above average and nothing more.

Except he played immediately at Rhode Island.
As I recall he gave up football and left Pitt. Then reconsidered and gave it another try at Rhode Island. You are entitled to your opinions but not your own facts. The man had bad concussion issues, period.

To me it's Rutherford, more about timing and the competition than him as a prospect. He committed to Pitt when walt was just starting to turn things around , beat out psu for him. I remember thinking maybe they will actually turn things around. He was a highly rated guy as well

Shady. I remember him checking the box on a whiteboard at the Pete. The Zoo was instrumental in getting him. Knew he would be a star.

1A Whitehead - bc everyone had him pegged to go to PSU and he shocked everyone when we got him
1B Hamlin - picked us over PSU on the 6 oclock news. It was a toss up at that point but I remember him being the first top recruit that HCPN got and there was a lot of buss around the program at the time

Those were really the first years i followed recruiting in depth, dont remember much before then.
