Not too bad on utilizing Paterno's part in the PSU/Sandusky child sex abus scandal.

I'm sure PSU fans will be contacting NBC to threaten them with law suits and telling their sponsors they will not be buying anything as part of the show. I think some of Jim Jones' fans killed some NBC news people as well for similar actions back in the late-70s at Jonestown.

Sorry, but that wasn't even a little bit funny. I guess it's just in keeping with SNL's recent trend of jokes done in bad taste.

I watched the bit, and this posting made me go look at BWI for their reaction.

The typical "the people that write these jokes just don't understand all the facts" comment was made several times.

Well, their were two comments in the SNL joke.
The first was about JoePa's last season being a bad one. He got fired before the last game, so yeah, it was a bad one for him.
The second was that JoePa turned a blind eye. He knew Sandusky did sexually inappropriate things with minors and watched him bring young boys onto his Penn State practice field for the next ten years, so he obviously turned a blind eye.

Those two SNL comments were undeniably true. Any other "facts" the cult might try to point to had nothing to do with either SNL comments.

Actually I think the show has made some major strides this year on hitting just about everything without a lot of bias. Republican, Democrat, relevant current event things, etc. I found myself chuckling more than usual this year although it is a little edgy. People just need to lighten up. Sometimes bringing current events up in a lighter, edgier mode does bring things to the forefront better.

I thought they were funny.

It's highly refreshing that the rest of the world "gets it".
In Pittsburgh we're bombarded with the "pro Pedophile enablers" in the sports media.
Most people realize the Paturdo era was a "house of horrors" where football was first and only.
Too bad the precedent has been set that all you have to do is pay enough money and any behavior - no matter how repulsive - will be tolerated.

This proves that people outside of Happy Valley haven't forgotten about the UPS Child Sex Scandal, nor are they buying the "Joe didn't know" crap that the Joebots have been peddling.

And the entire country views the JoeBot populace at Happy Valley as we look at Scientologists....a big cult

Didn't think they had a chance with the French Alps crash--but they pulled it off. And Jeb Atkinson is my fave as far as news bits go with this current cast. They do seem to push it a bit more than in the recent past.

"Recent" trend? Really? SNL has always been about jokes done in bad taste! Sometimes the results are hilarious (as that bit was IMHO) and sometimes they fall flat. BTW - Taran Killiam is fantastic and will be the next big breakout star launched from that show.

I agree, pit girl. I think Killiam is very talented and Jebediah Atkinson is very funny character.

I think the jokes are going to go on for a very long time. There are several reasons for this. I think the main reason is that so many other topics for jokes are just out due to the new era of political correctness. There are few targets left for a joke. You can't even get a good joke about three guys walk into a bar type stuff without a hate speech charge being levied. It's all off limits: retards, Polish, Chinese, Muslims, blacks, gays, rednecks, fat people--all off the table for jokes anymore. Pretty soon just by laughing you will be accused of bigotry because why else would you laugh?

Well, that leaves us with only a few targets left for jokes. Nobody outside of Pnnylion and his merry band of misfits and a few posters on this board posing as Pitt fans would ever defend a pedophile. Very few people outside of the Penn State football program would actively hide a serial pedophile. These people have been and are so smug, vile and disgusting that even in today's PC world, it is OK to rip them in jokes as much as you wish!

The other reason is their reaction to the jokes. This is far more entertaining than the actual jokes. The endless lawsuits from the Paterno family, the lawsuits against the university itself, voting guys like Lubeurano to the Board of Trustees. You can't write better comedy than this! And it is completely believable. Are any of you surprised by any of it? Not me.

So how long before the Paterno's sue SNL because Jay can't get a head coaching job because of their joke?

I think the punchline comes when the Clery report comes out.

Outstanding - and everyone but the cult gets it

funny and sad al at the same time

Ped State Creepy Valley forever

Hail to Pitt

Reminds me of the skit a year or 2 ago that compared joepa to satan.

It's great seeing a rival as a national laughingstock but horrible for the victims of the football program

From today's PPG - Penn St looking to settle 3 more suits relating to Sandusky. The most glaring comment in the article:

"The boy was 12 when his abuse began in 2005. It continued for almost four years and through encounters that, the suit states, included having lunch with Sandusky and former head football coach Joe Paterno."

Lunch with Joe & Jer, wow. And this was 2005 or later??????

You know, the jabots are quick to say he did what he was supposed to do and the child rapes where not a football issue but every time the suits come up, football does play a role in the process.

I hope someday all the culprits are in jail , including posthumously in hell
