They will be playing a Navy team that is not only entertaining, but they are very good as well.
Pitt will have it's hands full against the Navy offense and will get to play against one of the most athletic QB's to ever play college football. It will be a fun game to go to and I will be there!!!
I would have went to the Pinstripe Bowl as well, but for me, the Military Bowl was my #1 choice because of the location and team they are playing. Add to the game, the pageantry of the Naval Academy and it will be a fun trip.
Congratulations to Coach Narduzzi and his team on an excellent season and to the excitement that they have generated in the Pitt program.
By the way, September 10, 2016 can not get here fast enough for me...
Playing those obnoxious penn state jagoffs is going to be fun, but beating their "rear ends" is going to be incredible!!!
Hail 2 Pitt!!!

You are kidding, right? NC St, Penn St and Louisville all 3 in better bowls playing better teams all 3 record 7 - 5. The military bowl is a slap in Pitts face

I selfishly love this bowl as I can do the trip for $125 and only drive an hour and a half

No, I am not kidding. The reality of it is that unless your team is one of the four playing in either the Cotton Bowl or Orange Bowl, it's just another game. Would I have invested $1,500 to go watch Pitt play in another bowl somewhere out west or down south...probably not.
The Military Bowl is relatively close and they are playing a game against a good team. Navy's QB, Keenan Reynolds, is very good at running the Navy flexbone offense and Pitt will be challenged for sure. To me, that beats going up to NY for the Pinstripe Bowl and spending over a $1,000 to watch a football game. It also beats going down to NC or Fla and blowing more money then that, watching Pitt play teams that aren't as good as Navy.
As I said in the original post, in my opinion, the Military Bowl is PERFECT for me.

Because those 3 have actually bought tickets to bowl games before. Pitt doesn't ever.
Lets see slappy if Pitt proves everyone wrong.
The allotment is 7333 in the closest bowl possible.

What in the hell are you talking about? UGA isn't even ranked? Better opponent? No... It won't matter either as UGA will kill Penn State...

If we were all smart, and we are not, outside a handful of schools, we mean nothing. If we all just said screw it, we are all done, things would change with the system. Anyhow, I don't blame Barnes , but I could give a rats azz about this bowl, most of them as well, but will take my vacation down south, have fun.

OMG, no soccer to conflict, a christmas miracle.
Girl's high school indoor soccer has a 2 week break between December 19th and January 2nd, so I'm free, If there had been a game scheduled for December 28th, then it surely would have been fcck the Military Bowl.

As the new playoff format continues to solidify...each year all other bowls will be rendered equal in the eyes of CFB fans. We already see it with the differing views on Pitt's trip to Annapolis.

The prestige will not be in the actual bowl....but in the opponent. This is why the Military bowl is better for Pitt than the Pinstripe against IU.

I acknowledge the payouts and the dates will impact the perception of SOME fans......but one of the intended consequences of the CFP is to render the rest of the bowls as meaningless and it is working

+1. Good post.

I selfishly do too. First because I am off Monday's and was thrilled I could actually watch it. Then I saw 7,000+ plus tickets available to a near-by game and immediately booked a bus trip. Would mean a lot to this team to win also. H2P!

Washing Post article today ranking the Military Bowl (Pitt vs Navy) as the #7 ranked Bowl of the 40 Bowls being played.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

"Yeah but Penn States is better because they play UGA and well never mind UGAs not ranked and not really good but they will beat PSU."... Just like everything in Happy Valley about 30 yrs in the past

Funny all they talk about is how Pitt's championships were "so long ago", but Penn State fans are the ones who are completely stuck in the past.

THIS. Well put. People are dilusional. Only downside is 2 turnovers and Navy wins for sure. We might have beat Indiana by 30. All other arguments are based on pride, which I believe is the 6th deadly sin.
