And it now a no contest for both teams. No rescheduling . How dumb is that. Keep the kids until tomorrow and let them play tomorrow
Why? It’s a meaningless exhibition game played by two teams that have no connection to the city, surrounding area, state or region. They could have had chamber of commerce weather today and still would have had 5,000 people in the stadium. And it now a no contest for both teams. No rescheduling . How dumb is that. Bowl Hotel partners would love that. And it now a no contest for both teams. No rescheduling . How dumb is that. Keep the kids until tomorrow and let them play tomorrow
I have the bowl channel on and its a sports update and just noticed it was cancelled. And it now a no contest for both teams. No rescheduling . How dumb is that. Keep the kids until tomorrow and let them play tomorrow
Looks like there’s going to be more storms rolling through the rest of the day and possible flash flooding tomorrow.Could you imagine spending the money to fly before xmas to Texas, spending xmas in a hotel or restaurant thousands of miles from home only to see 10 mins of your football teams game? I would be pissed beyond belief

At least that's somethingCheck out @MartinJarmond’s Tweet:
Probably has to do with TV. That and fans who can't stay over. And it now a no contest for both teams. No rescheduling . How dumb is that. Keep the kids until tomorrow and let them play tomorrow
That stadium was empty, like the players could have gone into the crowd and personally thank the fans for coming empty. I don’t think many BC or Boise State fans were inconvenienced by the game getting cancelled.Check out @MartinJarmond’s Tweet:
Serious question. Do you think out Athletic Administration would do this? I not a betting man but I would venture to say no..Check out @MartinJarmond’s Tweet:

The cost of the tix would be the least of my concerns if I spent $ for flights, hotels, meals, cabs, etc.At least that's something
The announcers of the Cal vs TCU game briefly mentioned what you just posted and they got off of it quick. The cost of the tix would be the least of my concerns if I spent $ for flights, hotels, meals, cabs, etc.
When you attend a football game you don’t expect to get struck by lighting which is why they scrubbed the game. The announcers of the Cal vs TCU game briefly mentioned what you just posted and they got off of it quick.
Apparently it's the first bowl game ever to be cancelled according to the ESPN people.
When you attend a football game you expect it to be played in rain, snow, ice, etc.

There’s video of lightning strikes near the stadium on YouTube and when the local Dallas CBS affiliate was doing a live remote from the Cotton Bowl on their evening newscast there was still lighting in the area.
common sense judgement is to get off the field if lightning is in the area.If you hear thunder, you can be struck by lightning..I am all for the play in the muck and the mud and the cold but draw the line at lightning...not sure if they ever "used to" play in it...back when you had 10 bowl games odds are this never came up. now that there are 765 bowl games the likelihood of it happening is much higher. The country and state that I live in does lots of stuff as thunder storms roll out or are way in the distance like golf, mountain bike, ski, kayak, boat, fish etc.
Today some sports like college football have created the "lightning in the area hysteria" rather than use common sense judgements like they used to.

My favorite lightning stories go back to little league. There would be lighting and thunder in the area and approaching fast and these college educated but knuckleheaded parents would say, "well, it is the umpire's (who probably is a borderline alcoholic trash collector by day) call.. Amazing display of the Milgram experiment in everyday life.
well, I guess since I lived in a town where a kid was killed on a pitching mound by lightning (which came after the powers that be determined the storm had passed) I have a different perspective...And if you can hear an airplane overhead it too could crash on you.
There's someplace in the middle between hysteria stop the world I hear thunder and lets play!
Many years ago the cancelled a minor leagu

The storm that hit the Dallas area was pretty massive and there was lighting stirkes near the stadium the rest of the day and into the night. There really wasn’t a wait it out option since the storm and lighting weren’t going anywhere. The country and state that I live in does lots of stuff as thunder storms roll out or are way in the distance like golf, mountain bike, ski, kayak, boat, fish etc.

My cousin's wife was hit by lighting. She lived, but she couldn't walk correctly again for years. Hospital and therapy time was extensive. And if you can hear an airplane overhead it too could crash on you.
