They got NC State on the right day, they played so darn well for 35 minutes, but just lost their confidence at the end - missed FTs, and not executing.

Looking at the box score, JC played all 40 minutes (might have had SOME effect on his FTs at the end), X and Trey played 39 minutes, Toney played 35. Drumgoole and Murphy played 7 total minutes.

One reason they had a little more success was they actually got SOME production out of the five offensively, and for the first 35 minutes they team went to them a good bit. BUT, it was not particularly efficient - Hamilton and AKC were 5-12 from the field (all in the post) and 7-13 from the FT line.

AKC is showing a small bit of promise, he actually appears capable of catching a pass, which is a start, and he has some feel for working the old mans game, but he takes a long time to get a shot up and you saw NC State start to attack the ball. Hamilton was what he has been all season, active but playing small.

AKC seems to want to play defense, but it all moves too fast for him. Brown was lethargic, 1 FG off a pass that was right to him where he pretty much had to catch it, and 2 rebounds. AKC had 3 in 7 minutes

Toney had another really nice game, though he didnt' convert a wide open layin late, they have been able to run nifty entry passes to him when he has a good matchup and he can convert inside so much better this year than last year.

HCJC did what I have been calling for - came in with a plan to switch up defenses. It does not have to be a lot of pressure, though some helps. But, he used the 2-3 matchup not out of desperation because they were behind but strategically.

NC State's three guards played 38, 37 & 34 minutes, but Hellems was the wild card that was the key factor in the game - 6-6 from the field (including 2-2 from three) in 17 minutes.

They were actually the better three point shooting team today, 6 of 14 vs 5-22. If they just had a more efficient (better) post option and one more ACC caliber guard it would make a world of difference.
