His relative always posted here, supposed Pitt "fans". Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way to State College doc.
Pitt wanted him, didn’t get him. They tried, it wasn’t enough. The Specas have been classy as far as I know toward Pitt. Anthony just chose otherwise. Pitt will get another LB who wants to be a Panther, and will perform well. Would love to know, though, the deciding factor with all the offers he had, and why Pitt wasn’t it.

If it were me, and I didn't choose Pitt, I would just go to OSU or Michigan and actually compete for a title, which isn't gonna happen at PSU.
Would have been nice to get but we will find players who IMO will be a better fit. Our LB’s are involved a ton in coverage that’s why we convert many who have played S, WR etc. He seems to be an in the box MLB who would be good in the run game like George but could struggle in coverage. Other than George we have recruited athletes to play LB who all can run, cover and blitz.
I don’t care where the Speca kid goes. But if you are player with many big offers and options why the heck pick a school that covers up child rape, covers up ladies getting sexually assaulted etc?

Pitt will never land a suburban white kid over Penn State. Those families think Penn State is some fantasyland. Maybe he can become their next roided up white LB like Mauti, Lee, Poslusny, etc.

I think Bass looks better on vid. He's faster and plays sideline to sideline. He's just a better athlete.
With Pitt recruiting, it's best to just ignore where they are from these days. Don't think we have some inherent advantage because a dude is local - we don't.
I'm glad he committed early. Get this over with. Out of sight and mind forever. And I really don't GAF, either. We don't need slow, lumbering linebackers in this defense. He many not be slow for his size, per se, but we'll get someone who is faster. He'll be a little undersized, and then he'll be fine with a year or two of S&C.
We should all appreciate the guys like Danielson, Hayes, Johnson, Donald, Ford, Hall, Kradel, Zubovic, etc. Guys who have other options but chose to stay and represent their city. A lot of locals out there aren't even considering Pitt. To which I say: Whatever. Go do your thing; we'll do ours. That's the only thing that irritates me a bit about taking these guys back a year or two (or five) later. I'd almost rather watch some of them sputter up in Boston College.

I never used to think that, especially given the success we had with Petrishen, but I'm coming around to that way of thinking, especially for the supposed "fans" like Speca, or Kristorfic, or Lugg.
We should just kill this thread here. Let these dudes be forgotten by their hometown. If he succeeds a PSU, he can go have a legacy there. I'm sure some of them take pride in riling the Pitt folks up. Eff that... let's forget they exist.
PSU linebacker tree makes Pitt's look pathetic. It is what it is. Pitt wanted the kid and he picked another school.
Pozlusny was the real deal, same with Lee. Don't get that same feeling with Speca. Watching PCC a few times and I thought the other kid, Sullivan, was better.
Power move. Hold onto that fourth star since he was trending the wrong way. I'd bet good money the kid keeps taking visits.
Unless it's always been your dream school or something, you don't typically commit this early if your spot is secure and you're all that high of a priority. Just sayin'.
This is unfortunately very true. Unfortunate for our football team as far as getting a player, but that’s no big whoop (hell, we lose guys every day! 😄). But it’s unfortunate more so as a comment on society in general. How can anyone overlook what goes on there… SMH in horror

Can't tell you off the top of my head which of them had Penn State offers, but I assume most of them did.
Local kids do well at Penn State. Its the ones that leave the state thats never get off the bench. He will be looking like a WWE dude in no time like the others.

I mean, those are the profiles that explicitly list offers. There could have been more. For instance, Paulina is rated at the 650th best player nationally but only lists one offer. Recruiting profiles didn't used to be as comprehensive.
You will say some of those places aren't technically the suburbs. Fair enough. But the fact is we get some and we don't get some - just like the black dudes. Sure, we used to have a pretty good thing going with Aliquippa, which produced a high amount of D1 kids. But it seems like that's gone now anyway. And we also have a good thing going with TJ. Or at least did.
In fairness, I have a freshman in college that I didn't try to steer anywhere, and I'm paying. Not athletic related, but at some point it needs to be the kid's decision.

Man who cares. It's his life and his choice. We have pretty well recruiting linebackers. Hope he does well for himself. He is still Western PA kid. Some people act these kids are obligated to come here. Maybe he prefers a ore rural campus or something. Geez some people.
We are going back 20 years and the only suburban white kids we've landed over PSU are Palko, Biz, Bookser, Malecki, and the Nix's? Zubovic and Belle Vernon isnt a suburb.
I am sure him and his family do. Penn State is viewed as a Utopia by white people.
Are any P5 schools recruiting many WPIAL suburban white kids anymore? It's different than 30-40 years ago.
But you have to look at how many they've landed, too. Which is to say: D1 suburban white kids from around here aren't exactly common.
PSU finished in the Top 10 this year and has a lot of young talent. Pitt is also trending up. We don't play them anymore so this "rivalry" BS is kind of silly. Once the kid decides on another school it does't matter if it's PSU or OSU or Kentucky or LSU or Western Michigan......
the whole "wishing them well" stuff cracks me up. I'm with Meister on this....hope Speca and his turncoat family ride the bench at crappy Valley and he comes crawling back in a few years looking for a landing space (would never wish injury on anyone)
