Sucks!!!!

Was just scrolling through bball games in the near future on yahoo sports, and came upon St. John's.

Currently, they are 7-13! & have not yet (even) won a darn conference game. To make things worse, they're on a 10 game losing streak. (Good move Durand, good move...).

Wow. Just wow.

I think it was mistake (and said it at the time) they let go of Lavin. Especially considering they hired a guy with zero head coaching experience. Think they will recruit well enough to be more competitive but will struggle to even reach the heights Lavin took them.

Yea his first game was like an exhibition 30 point lose to a D-2 school. Not at all good.

Doesn't Mullin need a couple of recruiting classes before he can be fully judged? The Red Storm is really short on talent. Mullin will either be another Fred Hoiberg or Clyde Drexler, who had a forgettable two years as coach at his alma mater.

Lavin wants the UNLV job and is pushing hard for it. He's a shady guy who would fit in out there. The Rebels just might be dumb enough to hire him.

True.. But they still should be better than what they are currently.

They've had a decent amount of "bad" loses as well...

St. John's did beat Syracuse.

Chris Mullin could play, but can he coach?

Slice did jump off of the Cheatapari Good Ship Lollypop and is back in NYC. Maybe he was clueless in terms of Xs and Os, but he'll get the Gauchos.

Lavin left the cupboard completely bare. They pretty much had to scramble to try to fill the roster, they got Yakwe eligible after missing a few weeks, but couldn't get Lovett available. Lovett would've helped a ton this year. Additionally, they just lost their promising freshman center Sima to an injury.

They are in on some big time recruits the next few years, and the combo of Slice & Abdelmassih will get kids. This team will be back in the NCAAs within a few years. Not sure if Mullin will be able to coach well enough for them to make a run, but he (along with Slice and Abdelmassih) will get them there.

Durand is getting exactly what he wanted though... unlimited pt and the freedom to shoot at will. That's not a bad thing, and unfortunately the injury and suspension caused him to miss a full year and a half of game action.
