What if we look overseas for her replacement. God knows what the rules are these days for bringing in people (even with pro experience) but maybe thats an option as well. I saw a post on X that said Fish was in Europe recently.
I thought it was interesting that she was almost completely absent from that big ESPN piece. I doubt that had any impact here, but just worth noting.
It seems like the entire community of elite volleyball athletes is very close. Olivia was roommates with Lexi Rodriguez during one of their national team stints. And when Olivia posted her IG post about coming back, Jess Mruzik and Izzy Starck from PSU both made positive comments. It is so much smaller a group than football or basketball, for example
So on the one the hand, you can't read much into follows. On the other hand, as someone else pointed out, it creates an environment where the athletes can recruit each other to transfer without the coaches being directly involved.
It starts in juniors. My kid isn't any sort of D1 athlete but she has friends from a dozen or more clubs and is followed by some college players. It's a close community.
Maybe he'll go get Averi Carlson and he'll feel much better, LOL.
It's not funny at all but at least Torrey never dealt with the crap Carlson or Harper Murray put up with from a bunch of d-bags in those fan bases.
And I imagine this is the kind of thing that helps a sport grow and flourish....being in a close community.....and we all know women's volleyball is a sport that is growing and flourishing. That's all.
Yes. It's pretty wild how connected the players are with each other. Many of the top college players have no problem responding to messages from younger players. Claire Chaussee and Cat were both very cool with my daughter.
Things have been so quiet on this front. I wonder if she is just exploring options, and might actually return to Pitt. She may find out that the grass isn’t always greener. If that’s what she is doing, I applaud her. It’s a smart move. Honestly, I think she’s handled everything with class. There have been no leaks of information, no snarky social media posts. I’m sure Fisher knows exactly where she’s at, and I would think there is an open door for her to return should that be the route she chooses.
The word on VolleyTalk is that she has visited Wisconsin, Nebraska and Texas. One poster said Wisconsin has offered her $500,000. That seems absurd, but quite a few knowledgeable posters there seem to think that isn’t out of the question for her from Texas as well. It would be by far the largest NIL payment to a volleyball player. All it takes is one wealthy booster who wants to try to ensure a championship.
Interestingly, Stanford apparently isn’t in the picture. Or, at least there has been no talk about them recently. There is some question as to whether Stanford’s internal policies would allow a player who will be a junior to transfer.

That would be about three times what most women pro players on the planet make so it's likely just BS. I mean, if it were true, what the hell is she waiting on?
That would definitely be my guess......anxious to see this brought to a conclusion. If she does leave Pitt.....I hope Kellen has Flormarie Heredia Colon on speed dial.
I do wonder if they have Flor lined up and are just waiting for Torrey to officially commit somewhere else before bringing her in. Would make sense why that Flor's recruitment has been so quiet other than hearing she was in contact with Pitt

Everyone needs to keep in mind that VolleyTalk, while occasionally a good way to find things out, is just as big a dumpster fire as most message boards. It's kind of like "college realignment" twitter or X or whatever it's called. People just throw a lot of crap against the wall and see what sticks, sometimes.
VT has a few posters who actually have access to the portal and what they post as far as who enters and who commits is 100% accurate. You just have to learn who they are.
Mike, any sense as to the chance she could return? Like maybe she put her name in the portal to see what her options were, and maybe they aren’t all that much better? It’s just in that Oakland Originals podcast, both her and Olivia didn’t seem to be concerned with the money. Who knows…
Stafford removed Pitt Volley from her Instragram bio. That, combined with classes starting today, remove my hope for her return.
So a volleytalk poster seemed to indicate that she just visited PSU, and that she only visited there and Texas. I'll be less upset if she goes to Texas, but the whole situation makes me like college sports less and less.
If she goes to Penn State, they'll be recruiting two transfer OH with multiple years of eligibility (2 for Stafford and 3 for Sellman) over two 5-star outside hitters coming in this year. Wonder if one or both of them will decommit since it pretty much locks away any chance at playing time for them over the next two years
The portal isn't a secret. There is an explosion of people trying to peddle online products that claim inside knowledge or who try to leverage their club connections but there are free spreadsheets that are current. I also think some of what's put in there is meant as a distraction. Doesn't mean it's all wrong. Just don't trust any of it.
And anyone claiming on VT Texas is a " done deal " isnt correct

She's not listed on the roster any longer either but that doesn't mean anything.
