Just with the money he collected from Pitt he really doesn't have to work another day in his life. You can say that Pitt retired him in comfort.Stallings is only mentioned on this discussion board and in Sunday sermons on the topic "Count Your Blessings."
Why do some of you still think about him? It's as bad as still being obsessed with DEAD JoePa!...NO head coaching jobs.
Let's be honest, he's what, 57-58 years old? If he was making over 1 million dollars a year, for the last 10-15 years, he shouldn't have to work another day in his life if he doesn't want to, regardless of what boatloads of money some of you think he got in a buyout.Just with the money he collected from Pitt he really doesn't have to work another day in his life. Yes - but - these HC's have giant ego's and oftentimes they can't stay away regardless of how much they've banked.Let's be honest, he's what, 57-58 years old? JMO - no way Stallings would walk away from a new HC gig to "redeem" himself.
ESPN had a 10 minute piece on him at this D3 St.Joseph's, in Connecticut I think? used to be all girls, then went coed, then a year ago they started a men's team, Calhoun as the 1st coach, he seemed really into it and enjoying himself, playing in a high school size gym, bleachers only on one side. They went 15-13 the first year. I think you can access this segment on ESPN.com,Exactly. See Calhoun, Jim.
And I get the situations aren’t remotely the same. And maybe it’s Calhoun’s love of the game to some extent. But ego has to be a big part of it. Haven’t seen him in his current role but his last few years at UConn I thought his legs were gonna give out on him.
...NO head coaching jobs.

If he is still breathing, then he is cheating. Just like a liar who can't stop lying.is he still cheating? Although you would have no problem with that if he was.
You’re right, Pitt did retire him in comfort, but when Pitt hired him, they unretired me in anger.Just with the money he collected from Pitt he really doesn't have to work another day in his life. You can say that Pitt retired him in comfort.
Two of our last 5 BB coaches never worked again after they were fired by Pitt. Insert Wanny and Baby Momma beater on the football side. Sheesh....NO head coaching jobs.
I would have no problem if he was cheating, I'm all for it, like Al Davis said, "Just WIN Baby". Who knows? Maybe he was, he had an athletic tall dude at D3 throwing down dunks.is he still cheating? Although you would have no problem with that if he was.
I'd be doing that too of my son was a pro ball player. He’s busy watching spring training baseball, he doesn’t have time for coaching jobs
I'd love to have a coach that did ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING HE DID, including the results. I'd still be celebrating a cheating coach's success, even if he was sitting in a jail cell.If he is still breathing, then he is cheating. Just like a liar who can't stop lying.
Haywood coached a couple seasons at Texas southern,.. so he’s off the listTwo of our last 5 BB coaches never worked again after they were fired by Pitt. Insert Wanny and Baby Momma beater on the football side. Sheesh.
Really, I thought he was the new spokesperson for the Hairclub for Men.I heard Stallings has taken a new job as mattress tester for Serta.
But he's a sleeper for a couple positions....NO head coaching jobs.
I don't think I "hate" anyone - but if I did in this situation, it would be reserved for Scott Barnes, who honestly is a scum bag IMHO.Im going to be annoyed when his son makes the opening day roster for the Pirates. That’s how bad I hate stallings.
surprising in that new Orleans finished 12-6 in conference and 19-13 overall...Not sure what is happening with their current coach.....NO head coaching jobs.

I agree that Barnes was biggest villain in this whole saga .I don't think I "hate" anyone - but if I did in this situation, it would be reserved for Scott Barnes, who honestly is a scum bag IMHO.
In hindsight, I think Stallings had good intentions, but it was doomed from the start. Add in he was on the downward side of his career, so I do think he kind of gave up. Add in his relationship was frayed with Lyke from the very beginning = disaster.
I still feel that the loyalty his players showed him tells me that he didn’t quit on them , they’d be the the ones that really know . You haven’t heard a peep out of any them badmouthing him either .

Cam left for UNC hard to blame for that . For the rest of it unless your privy to inside stuff who really knows .I never really heard any of his old vandy players praising him for his positive influence in their lives, and it seemed like Vandy nation was super happy to see him go. Cam Johnson fleeing was also a big negative. I pretty much believe that Stallings put a lot of effort into selling the idea to the 2nd year team that everyone/thing else , media , fans , and the administration were the problem. He was all for souring the kids on the place, and in was not their collective faults ( particularly his) for any of the mess.
I really dislike his whole approach so I am biased.
He was the wrong guy at the wrong time !
