Stanford football has gotten pretty interesting from a Pitt fan's perspective. Couple things:

1. They hired Andrew Luck as more of a pro-style GM, meaning the HC answers to him and he seems to make personnel decisions. In almost all other GM positions, it's more of just a consultant who reports to the Head Coach.

2. Andrew Luck recently fired HC Troy Taylor and hired Frank Reich as the interim HC. Nate Byham was promoted to OC.

3. They just offered a Lucas Shanafelt from Peters Township and have another Peters player heading there this fall. I dont know what this means for Pitt but after losing the Central kid to Duke, it would be funny if we started to go 0 for in the WPIAL vs the Power 4 "Ivy" type schools.

Particularly since we have been anointed a "public Ivy"

Shanafelt I believe has visited here a few times and I think has an official scheduled. Has some good offers but I don't believe from any of the factory schools. This is one Narduzzi really has to close on. If you can't here, then there is no hope for local recruiting and just resign ourselves to the fact it will be the diamonds in the rough from Georgia or Florida who the SEC doesn't recruit or the WPIAL guys on the rebound (Jimmy Kallis maybe, his offers are huge and I can see him getting lost in the shuffle at Georgia or OSU).

I also saw Gatten from PCC has an official visit here. This seems to go into the category of why expend the energy. PSU legacy from the recently PSU enamored PCC. Unless PSU has cooled on Gatten. Saw him play and is good but he doesn't look very big for a LB. Maybe barely 6'0?

It depends on whether or not Franklin wants him. I swear Franklin takes these types of 3 star players ONLY to get at Narduzzi.

Who cares about the WPIAL "kids"??? If the local players don't want to come to Pitt because they think that are to "BIG" for the Pitt program...SCREW THEM!!! The WPIAL players are no different then the players from anywhere else in the country, Yinzers need to stop treating them like they are special, because they are not.
Also, who cares about Andrew Luck, and Frank Reich? Very few former professional players and coaches are successful at the college game, especially the way that the game is being played now. Give me Pat Narduzzi and Kade Bell with the right players and Pitt win kick Stanford's butt in a football game 90% of the time.

I just overheard a Peter's mom whose kid wants to go to Pitt talking about Oakland. It's "not safe" and "you have to take a PAT bus to get to your classes."

The part about taking PAT bus to class is pretty funny, gotta admit. I actually think I did take a PAT bus from Clapp Hall to the Towers if I hit it just right.

That's what, about three blocks? That is some seriously impressive laziness.

Yea, but if I'm walking out of class and its right there, I'm jumping on. Not all the time and weather dependent. Just tell Werewolf to tell these parents you don't have to hop on the scary PAT bus if you don't want to.

It certainly seems like it. Although part of it might just be pipeline maintenance.

Nah, I think it is spite. If Franklin doesn't offer Stan Yinzersky from Baldwin who is a 5'10" LB, the gym teacher coach doesn't get upset and says "that's okay coach, wait until next year when 6'5" QB Lance Sterling is a senior and sign him". But if Pitt and Narduzzi skip out on Stan, the gym teacher will hold a grudge until time immemorium.

Nate has been recruiting Lucas for over year and has 2 other players that have commited this year to Stanford.
