People have always been nuts. We used to just ignore the crazy uncles. Now the crazy uncle has figured out social media and can spread their insanity electronically. I’m not sure the answer but one must consider ID verification for all people logged into social media platforms. No hiding behind screen names

When the Peds where exposed for the sex scandals and the NCAA imposed sanctions the immediate response was several lawsuits to cut the sanctions and an ongoing campaign vilifying the victims and whistleblowers. When Paturdo was fired thousands of students rioted in HIS favor. No other school or institution has come close to this response to sex scandals. It is and always will be "football first and only".
Ped State set the precedent - pay the attorneys and its OK. No attempt has ever been made to correct the culture so it is no surprise it till goes on.

Not going to waste my time looking it up, but a decade ago a bunch of people started attacking Curt Schillings daughter on Twitter and there was nothing the authorities were willing to do. Schilling had to pay out of pocket to find out who it was, and his only justice was outing them to their employer hoping they would get fired.

If you think a D1 starting QB does not deal with this crap regularly when they have bad games then you are not paying attention.
Why do you not hear about it? Because it is not a news story, it happens too regularly to be.
Why are you hearing this story now? Because a Ohio boy is playing against the Buckeyes this for a team that is a threat to Ohio St recruiting. PSU can go into Ohio and get a top QB. Pitt, Minn, Iowa, Etc can only get what Ohio St does not want.
That is how i see things. Yes PSU is despicable, and the people who actually made these threats are losers. But this is not a big story. It really is not.

Go read any D1 Qbs Twitter page after a bad lose. I bet you will find more QBs getting threats in such conditions than you will find not getting them.
You would be shocked at how much of this isn't reported, because it has been happening for a long long time and the only time I remember anyone tempting to follow through with it was in late 90's/early 00's at a baseball game in Chcicago when a farther and son attacked an umpire.
Yes, it happens with every fan base, but not to the degree it does there. It is their culture, which was very well documented in the Freeh report and that culture is likely to get worse before it gets any better. When you win at all cost to the degree that they did without really any repercussion, it will happen more.

Coaches, writers, reporters, victims - almost anyone who gave testimony in the Child molestation was threatened as have posters on this board.

I am just saying there is a culture at Penn State. Everyone refers to them as a cult and I have even heard Penn State fans say they are proud to be part of the Penn State cult. The culture was referenced in the Freeh report and when you have a culture like this, you will have fans like this. I do not know if it is a Penn State fan, but come on. I am old enough to remember things like this happening before up there and people are acting like this is the first time. People know about this and continue to send their kids there to play football. I am not saying this kid deserves this, HE ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT! But don't act like it is a surprise when something like this does happen. It wasn't long ago when a PSU fan did send a kid a letter telling him how embarrassing he looked. So far as the creepy old Boomer sending a letter about a kid's hair, that might be a PSU thing. Doubt it. Just some idiot with too much time on his hands. Death threats towards players (or anyone over social media) is more and more common. Kid drops a pass? Death threat. Kid misses a basket? Death threat. But that happens when you have gambling and donations and all other kinds of money at stake. People feel as if they bought a stake in something. As I said earlier, I don't see this as a PSU problem. Maybe how they're handling it is different or maybe it's just because everything PSU goes off like a rocket. Don't know.

A 13 year old girl received death threats for making a YouTube music video. Think about that for a second. There are a lot of sad, pathetic, deranged people out there that make these threats. No person in the public eye is immune to this no matter how little in the public eye they are. This is not a Penn St issue, it is a human issue. People speak out their a$$ all the time. The good news is that it is mostly talk, and not actions.
Plus all of your questions should have been answers on how worried the Clifford are since little brother commit to play there also. I hate PSU as much as the next Pitt fan, but again this is not just a Penn St issue.
