Thanks to both, hadn't seen that. While part of me still thinks it could be mutually beneficial to part ways at this point, can't be upset about retaining a top tier HC either. Hopefully we can lock in a creative/progressive OC.

In college it's all about net yardage, he has a big leg and he played on a team that punted a ton.

in the NFL a punter has to be a strong, consistent technician in addition to having a cannon for a leg.

The good NFL punters and kickers are freaks in their own right.

How is it insane to factor in holding ability when it comes to choosing a punter? You don’t think the Steelers looked at the free agent punters that were out there, realized there wasn’t that much of a difference between them and Harvin punting wise, then went to other factors to make their decision?

The Steelers owner/front office seems to have the fear of the unknown when to comes making changes, so they stick with the devil they know.

and field goals are pretty valuable when you have a QB that doesn't throw many touchdown passes.

There is no such thing as an "elite holder". If there weren't any decent punters, that's fine, but they probably should have worked out a few just to make sure.
