STEELERS vs RAVENS

Tomlin conned this locker room. TJ, Cam, Minkah actually thought that Mike T was the guy who could lead them to the promised land.

Offense: Roethlisberger, Faneca, Ward, Miller

Defense: Harrison, Polamalu, Farrior, Hampton, Taylor, Smith

That's a hell of a nucleus to inherit. Shoot, I could go 11-6 with that.

Harbaugh is totally disrespecting us tonight.

I don’t ever want to hear anybody on this defense being mentioned again with the all time great Steelers.

Just straight up avoiding contact.

It's for the best, because only an ass stomping will facilitate change. And by that I mean Rooney going from cone-shaped cups to dixie cups at the water cooler.

Only thing that would make this game enjoyable is if I was in a bar with a bunch of crazy yinzers who double as Nitters and I can laugh at their misery.

It looked like Harbaugh was on the way out several years ago before having Lamar Jackson fall into his lap. It’s too bad we couldn’t have drafted Jalen Hurts in 2020, who thought he was headed to Pittsburgh. Always comes down to the quarterback.

I think two things can be true:

Mike Tomlin is one of the best head coaches in the NFL, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he won a Super Bowl somewhere else…

AND

…Mike Tomlin’s expiration date in Pittsburgh has expired. It may be time for both sides to move on. Very similar to Andy Reid’s tenure in Philly.
Please. Mike’s name shouldn’t even be mentioned alongside Andy Reid.

What coaches have come out of Mike’s coaching tree?

He’d have failed here.

I get where you’re coming from, but don’t think a head coach needs to have a coaching tree to be considered a success. Belichick has a pretty big tree, but who’s his most successful protege? Bill O’Brien?

I highly doubt he would have amounted to much in this organization. Seems like someone who needs all the right pieces around him.

That’s not the point though. The coaching tree means that guys were found desirable by other franchises. No one in the league finds steeler coaches desirable. 18 years and counting.

Again, I get that, but there’s some context that’s needed with that.

He retained most of Cowher’s (older) coaching staff and has tended to hire older, more experienced assistants compared to younger up-and-comers. One of the few I can think of from the first half of his tenure (Scottie Montgomery) actually became a head coach at ECU.

That’s why I disagree with his lack of a coaching tree being an indicator he’s a poor coach, and this is coming from someone who thinks it’s time to move on.
