I read the above article on football scoop and he is credited with getting Charlie Weiss to Kansas, Kevin Sumlin to Arizona, Gary Andersen back to Utah St and Jonathan Smith to Oregon St. What am I missing here? Why does this guy still have a job?

These search firms are bogus. This guy has zero track record for a solid coaching hire. Not even 1 mentioned in that list is or has produced. This process may be doomed from the start for FSU.

Well that’s not a good resume for sure, but in fairness, search firms don’t make the final decision. The ADs at those Universities still had to do their own interviews and due diligence.

Mullen and Kelly are not staying much longer, IMO. Everyone knows he wants the ND job. If they had to they should fire Kelly to bring Stoops in. They have unlimited money for a move like that.

FSU would be lucky to get Mike.

I don’t think Bob Stoops takes the FSU job. He has twin sons, 1 playing for Oklahoma and the other going to school there and assistant coaching a high school team nearby. He left because of the rigors of college coaching and to focus more time with family. The XFL job gives him the opportunity to coach and serve as GM in the college football offseason. A college job doesn’t seem to mesh with his current life at least until his kids are graduated. Mike Stoops maybe. Urban Meyer no way....I can see him taking an NFL job and busting, or taking the ND position if it opens up and winning a national championship. Good luck FSU. If I were them, I would hire one of the assistants away from Bama or Clemson.

He's always been stable, reliable, not sure for how much longer,day by day, but so far so good.
