Ole Miss podcast has LSU 247's guy on. Both think, unsurprisingly, that it's a 2 team race, Ole Miss and LSU. And that's what I've been saying without having any inside info. In this new age SEC, which is taking basketball seriously, you just aren't going to beat them on the trail.

And BTW, LSU is flying in Sy's dad from Senegal. The LSU 247 guy didn't think anyone else has done that. He for sure wasn't in Ole Miss this weekend.

Frustrating.

Flying his dad in. Yeah he's going to LSU.

Didn't want him anyway - Never did - Capel better have someone else and not some finesse big shooting threes

I won’t pretend that I know anything about any of the players JC is wooing , but if he’s putting effort into landing this guy it’s either because he feels the kid can play or he’s the best option out there !

The coaches in the SEC, are quite impressive, to say the least. Good move by LSU, but hopefully and I don't know how nothing has happened yet to Wade, that something happens to him. Pretty blatant with the audio.

With regards to Dixon, pretty frustrating to see the assistants he has hired since being hired just over 3 years ago. Wish Capel at least hired one known "recruiter" on his staff or brought on a HC from a top AAU program as DBO or something.

I know Pitt didn't get him, but I believe O'Toole went to Ireland to see Aidan Igiehon's mom in Ireland. Nice move by LSU and flying in Sy's father thought...the $EC man ha.

I think it's pretty clear that nothing will happen to Wade. The AD "resigned" the day after he was forced to reinstate him. The LSU 247 guy said the "worst is over" for him. Listen, unless you have a video recording of a coach handing over a wad of cash to a recruit, nothing will happen. Business as usual for Wade.

Just crazy to think about, but yeah, the AD (who no one liked apparently there) is taking the fall and Wade will wipe his hands clean. Must be nice lol.

I wish Pitt did this, believe me. I like your first post too. Hope you continue posting on the boards. I think expectations are tempered/below where we thought at the moment. Getting the 2018 class was a coup and we had no clue how it was going to turn out. 2 re-classifies and a de-commit from Nebraska? No one could've envisioned this.

Recruiting to Pitt is different than Duke, no one denies that. Pitt has been one of the worst P-5 teams in since 2016. The tides seem to be turning, but this will not happen overnight and Pitt won't be in the Sweet 16 come 2020. Gonna take time.

I’d honestly like to know what happened here.....

All last year we were told 20 was the year we would really see traction.

And while Drumgoole, JC, and Coulibaly are ok players, they aren’t the next level prospect we were told Capel could bring here. They aren’t Mcgowens level. And it’s been basically bad news after bad news this spring.

I still have faith in Capel, but what can we attribute these struggles to? Nate Oats is immediately gaining traction @ Alabama and they have less relevance than we do in the basketball world. We play in the ACC we have two All conference caliber guards and we can’t beg a big guy to play here?

What do we think happened over the past 3-4 months? Why can Providence recruit Dickinson and Timberlake and we can’t? I’m not finger pointing just want to look at why this is happening?

Agreed yeah. Pitt can sell the ACC, playing time, playing with a solid, young core, etc. Dickinson and Timberlake are questions as to why Pitt hasn't been mentioned as much with them. Sy would be a real nice piece to the puzzle. SEC schools really want him. Hopefully there's a surprise or two for 2019 and 2020.

The ole ‘Pitt can sell the ACC’ line is so old and overblown. Why do so many still act like it gives Pitt some great recruiting advantage, especially when results scream otherwise.

This is exactly where I am at and I get shouted down for it. Harve lectures me on how Pitt's stink don't smell. You are either playing at this level, or you aren't. And if we aren't, I guarantee Capel will bail as soon as possible. Nothing against him, but this school and program needs to stop entering these battles with one hand tied behind their back.

If that’s the case, I’m not sure. That’s what I’m saying. It can’t just be that. I know Capel connects with players, do his assistants? Why aren’t we getting some of these kids to even visit? Providence got Gant to commit and Dickinson to visit. I wish we knew what was going on.

For the simple minded.
We are coming of a losing season behind two disastrous seasons and Capel has barely been here a year. Name a coach who can do better in the same situation. Under the circumstances jus kids naming Pitt in their top 5 is a win. Wait for 2020 & 2021 recruits then make a decision. Until then give it a break and stop talking out of the side of your neck.

I hate to say this, but the list seems rather long. Those "disastrous" seasons have nothing to do with the current staff. Stop making this excuse.

What’s Alabama selling?
Same thing Pitt’s selling, plain ole playing in a major P5 conference. We have rose-colored glasses on if we think top BB players view playing in the ACC as any more attractive than playing in the B10, B12, SEC, etc. If they’re specifically attracted to the ACC over another conference it’s usually for reasons other than the conference itself.

And unlike FB, P5 doesn’t mean as much. Many other non-P5 conferences in BB that are equally as attractive or not far behind.

Playing in the ACC for kids in ACC territory is certainly a sell to some recruits.
Playing style, preparing for the next level, coaching staff, tradition, academics....kids pick schools for tons of reasons.

We won 3 acc regular season games last year and tied for the worst record in conference .

We are in the middle of our disaster.
It's that simple? Georgia won 2 conference games this past season, 2-16, 11-21 overall. Their coach was in his 1st year this year. They have been mediocre. Haven't made the NCAA's since 2015. Haven't been better than a double digit seed in the NCAA's since 2002. Their class is ranked, what 10th right now by Rivals?

Just saying, there are always excuses of why we can't. Always.

Don’t worry, Terrell brown is coming back and despite everything we’ve seen with our own eyes that would contradict this, he’s really good according to some posters on here.

FWIW, I said Oats was going to kill it in recruiting at Bama due to his salesman-type personality. As usual, people disagreed. As usual, I will end up being right.

DePaul, Illinois, SHU a few years ago, PSU a few years ago. Kids don't care about this.

You just reinforced exactly what I said. Your first sentence, kids picking or having a preference for the ACC for a reason other than the conference itself. And the rest of it not related to the conference or unique to the ACC conference.

Bottom line, we have no significant recruiting advantage against most schools we compete against for recruits because of the ACC. Back when we were in the BE there was definitely more of a recruiting advantage associated with being in that conference.

True but nobody has any conference or geographic recruiting advantage anymore. Kids leave home in HS now. They don't care where they play in college. Pitt is at no disadvantage when recruiting kids from Florida, Alabama, Illinois, or New Jersey. Everyone is in the same boat.

Yes. Because.......Gary McGhee.

Stallings did a job on us as well as Barnes. Alabama was no where we were. If you want someone to come in and just get top 80 guys left and right than give 14 mil a year to Cal. So far Capel had done what he said, he got two NBA guys in after recruiting season was over last year. This year is not done but we already know whats going to happen according to some. Sy is not going to make or break us. Jeff knows what he is doing and he is not upset at all on what has happened so far as recruiting goes.

Not sure about the as usual comment. Sean, you are interesting, I'll give you that.............and you are right sometimes. However, if you throw enough shit at the wall, you are bound to hit it on occasion........and you sling a ton of shit!

No one said Oats would not be good. He can talk a game. I would rather have Capel than Oats. Oats is a cocky little guy, can we see what he does up a level.

I'll ask Capel next time I see him how he feels how recruiting is going.

If some of you guys don't like Capel as a coach who else do you want to coach the team because Pitt is not paying 7 or 8 Mill to a coach.

Why do you view reasons as excuses?
What does the griping accomplish?

Want a change in coach?
Administration?
Geography?

Cutting checks to improve anything yourself?

What 2 NBA guys?

What 2 NBA guys?
XJ and Trey at some point, I don't know when, but they will both end up in the NBA,
If you want to bet money on this, I will.
X is already projected to go in the 2nd round next year.
Do I think he should? No.
But after year 3 he'll be gone.
Trey will probably make it.
He has to improve greatly, but it will happen.

If you count those 2 guys as NBA guys you could count hundreds of others across the country. If they are truly NBA players this should be an NCAA tournament team or very close to it next season.

Lmao.. Where? By some Obscure Beat Journalist out of 100s??

Neither are Projected in any Mock Drafts I’ve Looked At.. They are Not NBA Players.. You need to Lay Off the Capel Cologne you wear to bed every night..
DM me, put some money up.
I love your new handle.
You're the best.
