Anyone been to Syracuse? Where is the best place to stay? Some things to do? I'm heading up there for the game this fall.

I've spent a lot of time up in that area. Lots of cool places around there if you're willing to drive 30 minutes to an hour. The Sheraton on Syracuse's campus isn't bad if you can get a room there. The Crowne Plaza is also OK (used to be a Renaissance I believe - circular shape, so you get pie slice-shaped rooms).

If you do nothing else, treat yourself to some BBQ at Dinosaur BBQ. They've branched out in the last 5 to 10 years, but this is the original and still the best. Best BBQ I've had anywhere. They just opened one in Chicago near me, so I'm pretty happy.

If your interested in a long weekend, and don't have any nippers to take care of, that time of year might be fun in the Seneca and Geneva area. The wineries will be finishing the harvests and should be quite active. Some very good restaurants as well.

Book this hotel now:
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/syrdt-courtyard-syracuse-downtown-at-armory-square/

I stay there for work, and I am all over the east coast (NYC, Boston) and this is a spectacular new hotel... and inexpensive! When I travel to Syracuse, I can't wait to get to this place....

Thanks. I actually just got off the phone with them. I'm calling back shortly and booking. I think we are going with that. It's a guys trip so I think we are going to hang out around Armory Square.

The suites upstairs are off the charts, and literally could host a party.. ENORMOUS living room with wet bar.... I was upgraded because I am a Marriott Gold .. but couldn't believe how nice the suites were.. in Syracuse, nonetheless...

Wish I had this kind of intel before I booked my trip. I'm taking my Father up to Cuse (as he's an alum) to watch the game. Got us (and my older bro - who doesn't have a dog in the fight as he went to Northeastern) a room at the Spring Hill Suites in Carrier Circle (http://www.hotels.com/hotel/details...9/25/15&WOD=4&ZSX=0&SYE=3&q-room-0-children=0). I was told that it's a really good place to stay near campus and a close drive to the dome.

Really looking forward to the experience as well as the game. I haven't done an away game in years and to spend it as a guys trip should be awesome!

@load1079 - have you been to the new dinosaur in Chicago? Outside of my 4+yrs in Pittsburgh and now my 3 in Milwaukee, I've resided in the greater NYC area the rest of my life and loved the Dinosaur in Harlem! Is it any good?

I'd suggest checking out Heid's of Liverpool for one of the best hot dog's you'll ever have. The ice cream next door is pretty great too.

I've been to the new dinosaur in Chicago twice so far and it wasn't as good as the one in Syracuse or the one in Harlem. My brother brought up a good point though...when I've gone to the one in Harlem and had great food, it was always at dinner or later in the night. In Chicago, I've only gone for lunch. There might be something to how long that meat is smoking that makes a difference and improves the quality for dinner.

That being said, even if it wasn't as good as Syracuse or Harlem at lunchtime, it's a lot better than anything else here. A few decent BBQ places have opened in Chicago in the last few years, but overall the BBQ here is not all that great. Chicago Dinosaur is a really nice facility though. Less crowded than the others from a space perspective. Most of a sports bar feel.
