Talent Level/ Athleticism

If you don't think Mike and Jamel don't have the optimal offensive attributes as a four and three respectively, then I can't even fathom what your expectations or perspective could be.
Artis' handle isn't optimum-hell he fumbles around with the ball 50% of the time he puts it on the floor. Young has nice offensive moves but for a PF, he's soft and a poor jumper. It doesn't take much in the way of jostling to throw Young completely off of his offensive game.

That is one of the dumber statements I have read on here. The NBA does not care where you go to school. If JR played on a Top 5 team, then he would be on the bench.

Then please explain the guy with the similar skill set and numbers from AZ getting an nba gig?

I just find it amusing that for years people complained we didn't have McConnell yet if he were here people would have railed on him because he wasn't a dynamic scorer at all.

Oh I get it now. This is another problem with your perspective.

If James went to AZ, duke, unc, etc, he would be in the nba next year.

I am assuming you really haven't watched tj play..ever.
Im not a JRob basher ,but he really has no chance at making an NBA roster ,his play at best has stagnated since his freshman year ,has absolutely lost confidence in his shot and lacks quickness. TJ plays for the only team in the league he could I hope for him he has a few more yrs in the league ,but I wouldn't bet on it.

You are probably correct. My point is that Robinson and McConnell are pretty similar on every level, yet one is revered on here and the other hated.

If McConnell would have gone to school at pitt PP and the others that hate James would have hated tj.

You think mike young has a poor jump shot for a 4? Did I read that right?

PGs with marginal athletic abiity who do not have a reliable shot regularly make NBA teams........... Since theres not much difference between JR and TJ im sure he'll be playing in the league next year as well.............
TJ is a better shooter from the field.
TJ shot about 50% from the field... James is around 37.4%.
Both struggle beyond the arc- TJ shot 32.1% his senior year. James is shooting 34.6%.

TJ's shooting percentages like James have been fairly consistent.

TJ is a distributor primarily, and so is James. Neither are or have been offensive threats.

Your jaundiced eyes not withstanding.

Wrong, as usual. There's not a single player on this team that all of the BB skills you'd like to have given the position they play. Hell, they only have 2 or 3 guys on the team who can shoot a jump shot and those guys lack something else, like ball handling or quickness.
You're going to have to qualify for me what you consider to be basketball skills.

quickness is athleticism...which is the discussion..the separation of physical abilities (strength, jumping, quickness) from basketball skills (vision, handle, shooting, passing, etc).

As noted, there are only a couple players on this team I'd say are good athletes (Jeter and ANO) and a couple I think are above average (Wilson and maybe Jones).

No, you didn't read that correctly. He's one of two guys on the team who actually can shoot a jump shot. I said his problem is lack of strength, jumping ability and being too easily knocked off of his game by physical play.

In retrospect, we are probably debating what constitutes athleticism versus BB skills. Your response was very reasonable.

NBA scouts appear to agree with my Jaundiced eyes.............One has an NBA contract and the other will be playing in Europe if hes lucky.

Yes, the GM from the Sixers agrees with your vision and signed him to a tryout as a free agent.
Good for TJ for making the squad. He's got a deal for this year...and is getting paid handsomely $525,093 which is the NBA minimum salary. No looking down at my nose at that. That's awesome for him.

His next 3 years are non-guaranteed, and my guess is..considering how the Sixers are trying to not win...they will either renegotiate for the minimum or cut him.

He probably can't even play in Europe. Ashton Gibbs failed twice trying to play in the Greek league.

Back to athleticism. Even thought Wake Forrest sucks, they have an athletic 7 foot freshman and others, who have more hops than us. Do we avoid going after these guys, wtf?

Look, TJ made the NBA. That's great. Good for him. He also made the NBA for a team that was trying to lose every single game to the point that the NBA had to step in to preserve the integrity of the league.
