Former City League Star, Pitt Target Transferring from Penn State
Pitt was once involved with one of the top players in Pittsburgh during the 2023 recruiting cycle but lost out to Penn State as it snagged the four-star linebacker. Ta’Mere Robinson — a Brashear High School grad — had Pitt as a top-10 school before narrowing it down to Penn State, Miami and...pittsburghsportsnow.com
SMF predicted these WPIAL guys would start leaving at some point.

I wouldn't mind getting the 4 star WPIAL players on the rebound if they were any good and can help the team, but the vast majority have been proven to be overrated!....Hey Cuckduzzi,
Stop offering these guys a lifeline to play their final years in front of friends and family, for a healthy sum of money, after they go out and get their fix at a bigger program. We can go 6-6 without them.
I have a dream. That one day these WPIAL burnouts will be judged not be the content of their football ability but by the uniform colors of the team they used to play for. No more Penn State castoffs who initially spurned us: please and thank you.

Sadly, that won't stop posters from getting upset when Pitt loses them to other schools....
I'd rather get players from areas that have elite competition at the high school level.... Florida, Texas, Georgia, Louisiana, VMDC area. Even Michigan and Ohio are better...
Pretty sure we'd have been happy to land Speca and/or Tatsch.
But then again, there's still time.
I'd be surprised if Robinson was not interested in Pitt the way Manalac has coached up the LB's. On the other hand, Manalac is very good at spotting talent and he might believe Robinson is not a good fit. We'll see, and I am admittedly partial to PCC kids, but I think he'll be a good player. At PCC he was strictly a downhill LB who wasn't coached much, and he had a lot to learn.
Robinson was always going to be an uphill climb after missing his senior year and playing against crap competition to begin with. I would certainly take a flyer on him so long as he recognizes that he's not a finished product yet.
Yes, Duzz has become the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your entitled, your underachievers/Your huddled masses yearning to play and make money,”I don't see how we'll ever get them out of high school once this paradigm has been established. They almost literally know they can go out and get a flavor of another program before Grandpa Duzz will welcome them back home with open arms. Petrishen, Devonshire, and McMillon were good players here... but I still would rather see us draw a line in the sand, or else we'll only get the ones who have been chewed up and spit out by other programs.

They tend to be the largest at their spot in HS and the smallest at the same position in college.I thought another issue with Robinson was that he outgrew LB and was being moved to DE. Maybe not picking up that position?
These WPIAL kids that are great athletes in high school but don't have a true position always seem to struggle.
I think that's true of a lot of good HS athletes that play football, in general. Wonder if Q Martin will fall into that trap. These WPIAL kids that are great athletes in high school but don't have a true position always seem to struggle.
Yea, same with Quentin Martin from Belle Vernon.I thought another issue with Robinson was that he outgrew LB and was being moved to DE. Maybe not picking up that position?

These guys aren't good enough to play at Pitt as FR and r-FR. Let them pocket a few hundred k from James from State College. Why waste money on guys not ready to play? Get them or others in years 4&5 when finally ready. If PITT keeps taking these kids after they can't compete at their chosen school then Narduzzi will never get them right out of high school. Let them go elsewhere.
Allusions on the lair at 4:38 pm? Happy hour?Hey Cuckduzzi,

But what the hell is the limit? The scuttlebutt on X is that PSU is 12 scholarships over the limit. If this is true, more PSU players will be leaving soon...
isnt the limit 125? So they have 137 scholarship players? The scuttlebutt on X is that PSU is 12 scholarships over the limit. If this is true, more PSU players will be leaving soon...
I thought the old system was an 85 scholarship limit and 125 roster limit, and now its no scholarship limit with a 105 roster limit. Could be wrong though.isnt the limit 125? So they have 137 scholarship players?
i have heard that Rich Rod down in morgantown does have a full allotment at 125. is pitt even at 75?
Because a few of those guys that are 86-125 will turn out to be significant contributors. It's just playing the odds. From what I understand, the limit is up to 125 scholarships. You can have less. Each school decides. If you're smart, you want less than 125. It costs the schools more money for guys to stand on the sidelines and not contributing. Why have 40 players over 85? Most of the 85 can't get on the field anyway...In PSU's case, you are paying money for more card players on the sideline...
I think the idea that Franklin is obsessed with us here is overblown. Maybe a decade ago, but that ship has sailed. It just doesn't seem worth the bother to me, especially since PN seems to have given up on even trying to recruit the WPIAL. He strikes me as a thin-skinned guy, but that would describe a lot of his fellow coaches. I guess he could still have some kind of personal emnity towards PN, but they really aren't traveling in the same circles anymore.
To say that it’s overblown is an understatement. It’s downright delusional and I laugh every time I read it.
Franklin is building a title contender at PSU. When you’re playing football at the highest level, these scholarships are like gold. He has legit prospects that he has to turn down every year.
He’s not going to waste spots on kids who can’t compete just to spite some goofy gym teacher coach from a middling ACC school.
By taking WPIAL players? Good one!
I think coaches waste spots all the time, whether it be on a teammate of a better player, or an attempt to curry regional favor by taking a tweener or two. It surely happens, and it's happened in the WPIAL. I just don't think he's looking to put a knife in PN's back anymore.
Sure, but those types of instances are about making the program better in the long run, so you look at them like investments.
But taking a guy who you know has no chance to contribute, just to spite a coach and program that’s not even on your level? It would be downright foolish at the P4 level, and even dumber as a title contender.
Please stop saying that. I understand the stars aligned last season and some goofy teams were in it at the end, but Penn State is not a title contender. A playoff contender, yes. But not a contender for an actual championship.
Branch campus dummy U is a pretender and not a contender….” We are….stupid”, the Branch Campus dummy credo.Sure, but those types of instances are about making the program better in the long run, so you look at them like investments.
