I honestly HATE how they can't set the times in advance for these games! Most of them show TBD. I have Steelers tickets for the Jet game 10/9, so I check the time for the GT game the day before, thinking I'll make it a double header weekend! Of course the game is listed TBD! It would be nice for planning purposes to know the time. That's what happens since they have to bow down to TV.

Home game on Saturdays.. Just assume its a noon start. You'll be right 90% of the time..

I know, but I could dream about a 3:30 can't I? Just to me, noon kind of kills the whole day if you do the tailgate thing. I'm not a season ticket kind of guy. I go to 1-4 games per year between Pitt & Steelers combined. Last year I went to one of each. So when I go, it's not about seeing a football game. It's about making it a major holiday, and doing it up big as far as getting together with friends, tailgate, go out after the game, be exhausted and hung over for the drive back to Maryland! 3:30 game means extended tailgate, more sleep in the morning etc.

Yep, have to wait for tv (or not) for that one. Might not know till week or two before kick.

I agree 100% with all of this and yes, I dream of this too. Unfortunately for various reasons, most of our home games on Saturdays will fall at noon.

Obviously it's that Pitt is not MUST SEE college football. The better teams get their games later in the day usually.

Always plan for a noon start. Most non-FSU, non-Clemson ACC games start at noon or 12:30.

I think there is multiple reasons. Ratings wise, I think pitt does well. Is the noon time slot a bad one for ratings? Honestly, I don't know. It makes sense that the big games are on at 8pm like tosu every week but from a network point of view, do they usually reserve the bigger games for 3:30pm over noon?

Living in the Baltimore area, Pitt is not a subject of conversation very often, and I have often been busy on Saturday afternoon, so over the years, it hasn't been uncommon for me to DVR the noon Pitt games and watch them later in the day without knowing what happens-so I watch a lot of them a little later. I think they do reserve the better games or better drawing teams for later a lot of the time, how often is ND on at noon? ND is usually mid-afternoon if they aren't a night game.

Are you telling me they set the times according to what the Networks want? The Networks that pay most of the freight? The Networks who's evenly distributed TV money has made the NFL a multi billion dollar industry? The Networks who put millions in college coffers? That's shocking.

I know it says 1 PM ET, but isn't the Steelers' game honestly TBD too? The NFL isn't shy about moving games around to satisfy their TV partners.

If the Steelers & Jets get off to fast starts, that game can move from 1 PM to 4:25 PM (replace the CIN/DAL game as the 2nd game of the national doubleheader) or 8:30 PM (Sunday night flex game).

It's unfortunate that TV dictates things so much --- but one decent thing about TV, at least the slots are pretty predictable. 12 Noon, 3:30, or 8:00. You don't really see stuff like 2:00 or 5:45. Georgia Tech @ Pittsburgh seems like it's 95% likely to be at either Noon or 3:30.

Admittedly --- even in a world where TV didn't dictate things, the Pirates would be a complicating factor in terms of start times for Panthers football.
