1 Seeds: Texas A&M, Illinois, Stanford, Miami
2 Seeds: UCLA, Old Dominion, Richmond, Tulsa
3 Seeds: Alabama, Minnesota, UConn, Pitt
4 Seeds: Buffalo, Rhode Island, Arizona St, Murray St
5 Seeds: Vanderbilt, George Washington, Seton Hall, Illinois St.
6 Seeds: Green Bay, St. Mary's, Memphis, Iona
7 Seeds: Harvard, Clemson, UTEP, South Dakota St
8 Seeds: William & Mary, St. Francis NY, Bucknell, Charleston Southern

Some big time P5 programs there... Texas A&M, Illinois, Stanford, Miami, UCLA, Alabama, Minnesota, Pitt, ASU, Vandy, Clemson.

Then some really big non-P5 hoops programs... UConn, Seton Hall.

If that's that's the field.... that's a pretty strong tournament.

I'd still rather be in the big tournament that matters.... but there's some good matchup potential there.

Bleacher Report has Pitt as a #3 seed in the NIT, playing UTEP in round 1, then the winner of GW/Yale in round 2 if they advance, that would be at The Pete. I'd like to see them win at least a couple games, although I'm not confident.

To me, every game that Pitt plays "matters", I'm pumped up to watch all of their NIT games, way more than I am to see the Big Dance this year.

Penn State is making a push for the NIT. If they can hang on against Iowa today, they'd have a good chance. Surely, SHU is now out of the field. PSU @ Pitt could be a heck of an NIT game that ESPN would be all over and to be honest, the way both teams are playing, I wouldn't want to play them. Newbill would have 30 easy on us.

FWIW, I think Pitt will be a 4 or 5 seed, maybe a 6. I'll do some NIT bracketology over the weekend if I have time.

Pitt might very well be a 4, 5, or 6 seed in the NIT. But PSU isn't even on the NIT bubble. They'd have to make it to the B1G semifinals to even get a look. Even if they hold on against Iowa here, that's not enough. FSU would have a better case than them, along with a dozen other teams.

Meh.

They won't get the chance. They're going to the CBI (at best) and we're going to the NIT.

Let's hope Nit Wit U doesn't get into the NIT and lets hope we don't have to play then this year!

I watch them to lose but they have a gritty, tough team. I think more gritty and tougher than Pitt this year!

Look at their record! They lost a ton of games by a " few " points!

I hate them but they're better than their record!

WE DON'T WANT TO LOSE TO NIT WIT U this year!

That would be a capppppperrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I left out the R as the second letter!

GO PITT!

There are at least 10 teams *AHEAD* of PSU on the NIT bubble right now. And I have looked at "their record".... It's currently 17-15/4-14. They are exactly what their record indicates they are. The 12th best team in a 14-team Big Ten that got a nice win today.... their best win of the season, in fact.

On a neutral court, Pitt would be favored by 4-5 over them.... at the Pete... 8 or 9.

Here are the teams ahead of PSU on the NIT bubble, by the way:

California
Florida
KSU
Kent State
UMass
Michigan
Oregon St
South Carolina
TCU
Tennessee
Toledo
Washington

PSU would have to jump *ALL* of those teams, just to make it into the NIT field.

Pitt fans lack all perspective, it's amazing.

UPITT89 I'm all in with your analysis and its great the Nit Wits won't get in the NIT! I love NCAA basketball but my knowledge is zero compared to yours!

But-

I live in NIT WIT U territory ( 3 hrs from Piittsburgh) and Nitter football is bad enough. If we ever lose to them in basketball the Nitters would be intolerable!!!

So that's all that counts at this point of the season???

Go Pitt!

Ok Pitt79 if the Nitters get into the NIT and they have to play Pitt you can have your fun.

I'll retreat into my 1960's cold war Cuban missle crisis dirt mound bomb shelter! Until the debacle game is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me know if we won?? Please??? Thank you!

I have no idea who you are Raleigh Panther but if we play the Nit Wits in the NIT I have $ 100 on the Nitters just based on their grit and intensity versus Pitts who cares attitude!

Go Pitt!

Does PUS have a basketball team? I didn't think they did. At least I know that no one goes to their games. But if they do have a team, just don't let the coaches near the locker rooms. They do like their little boys up there.

I'll take that bet.....

in a heartbeat.

Yeah, as you said earlier Penn State has had some close games this year. Most of which were against bad basketball teams. They are simply not that good. We are better than them. Not by a lot, but better. Now that doesn't mean that if we played that they couldn't beat us. After all, upsets happen all the time. But if they would beat us it would certainly be an upset, because, again, we are better than them.

I would have fun, because we'd win, we'd beat them. C'mon, give me a break! People complain that I'm always too negative, and here we are with a bunch of posters AFRAID OF PENN STATE BASKETBALL

!!!!! As bad as this team has been the last 10 days, they still won 19 games, they still beat UNC, ND, Syracuse twice, who has PSU beaten? To act like they would win walking away, like some of you are, is totally ridiculous!
