Blown out by 30+ at home earlier in the week by Michigan and today they lose at home to Furman.

Come Monday, it is possible for the Big East to have no ranked teams for the first time in its history. It would be quite a tumble for Villanova to drop from #8 to unranked, but the two losses were at home and they looked horrible in both. Butler or St. John's might squeeze into the Top 25, though it is doubtful.

Interesting start by Furman (5-0) beating Final Four teams Loyola and Villanova on the road.

Bob Richey already was considered an up and comer after what he did at Furman in his 1st season last year. Now he’s going to be one of those guys you keep hearing about moving on to bigger and better things.

It's funny because Niko Medved literally pulled Furman out of the dumpster, got them to better things, took a better job and then Richey won with his seniors last year. Typically that ends in tears for a guy like Richey but he's doubled down, taken a team of all of his recruits that is impossibly young and, if they can beat LSU around Christmas, has a team that might get an at large bid from the Southern. That's good coaching.

Quite the journey for Medved, who is now coaching his 3rd team in 3 seasons.

I feel bad for Drake in that situation, they were always a placeholder for Medved while he waited for the CSU job to open up but at least they got to have their best season since Keno Davis was still there.

Agreed, for them last season was an achievement. Probably looking at a much worse record this year.

Drake is a quirky team, by and large the metrics say that they should be pretty bad but they have two seniors that my system really projects well in Nick Norton (grad transfer from UAB who can really shoot) and Nick McGlynn (your platonic ideal of a 6-8 MVC center) so while Pomeroy has them cratering this year I actually have them sitting a touch better than that.
