That was a PUTRID display of officiating down the stretch.

Not sure pitt wins, but blackshear should have fouler out several times. The charge call on Davis was questionable. The reversed charge call was unbelievable. They missed a tie up that led to an EASY layup for VT.

Like I said, Pitt probably still loses, but that was unacceptable.

According to some idiot on here, they claim that the acc would rather have vt win so the conference will make more money with vt getting a higher seed come tourney time.

The officials gave Blackshear the LeBron James treatment.
I thought Blackshear got a lot of favorable calls today as well. But comparing it to LeBron James makes no sense. NBA refs are generally biased the other way w/r to LeBron because of how physically dominant he is. Defenders frequently get away with a good bit of contact on LeBron with no foul calls.

Williams was in the refs ears before the ball was tipped. He must have stood there and filled their ears for a good 2 minutes before play even started. I'm sure he was giving them their instructions on what to look for against Pitt and to make sure they called it.

The worst one was in the second half that led directly to a three for VT. I couldn’t believe that all three refs missed it since it was right in the middle of the court.
Is that the one where Frame was hit in the face?

Did he tell them to also call traveling? They call more traveling on Pitt than any other teams, and many times we don’t.

Welcome to being a bottom-feeder in the conference. That's the way it is, get use to it. Always follow the money. Always.

This has to be it. Because the refs don’t work for the ACC so everyone can forget the conspiracy theories...and surely the officiating cant be bad every single game. Yet it seems to us that it is. This has to be what every bottom of the league team feels like.

But this game seemed especially bad. Like what was stated above, that moving screen on the three was a great example of how it directly lead to points. Did that happen during the 9-0 run when Pitt cut the lead to 2 and had all the momentum and then Tech hit the 3 straight threes? That run is what won them the game and it was a real unlucky sequence for us.

I think it was. Also the really questionable rebounding foul on x as well was in that stretch.

There was zero conspiracy theories read the thread some poster said he heard someone say it (I haven’t read it anywhere) then that person responded.

It’s just bad officiating. Williams probably did get in their ears. I thought the game was pretty balanced, just blackshear is a bull in a China factory and fouls nearly every series. In tourney time a crew will call that and they will be toast.

Also refs can’t make us miss foul shots and open threes.

Yep. Blackshear is trying to push X all over the place and X is trying to hold his ground

Seemed as if the officials really gave Blackshear the superstar treatment yesterday. The play mentioned above being just one instance of several calls that seemed to be made in his favor.

I watched the replay. The problem was that X hooked Blackshear’s arm and I’m pretty sure that’s why the call was made.

While that may be true, there were plenty of times, especially when we were pressing at the end of the game, blackshear and a pitt player were both jostling and blackshear was pushing off...and every single time the call went against Pitt.

It was an equally putrid display of shooting by the Panthers in the second half, which is why they lost.

Very true. Late in the game he obviously used an extended arm contact for advantage.

I’m sure that was the call-
But it was clear that x wasn’t hooking him to keep him from the rebound-
It was incidental at best and had no impact on the play

Holding his arm has no impact? I agree that Blackshear got golden treatment yesterday. There was a sequence when Pitt had the ball and he was playing D like he was a linebacker. I thought he fouled us twice and one was on a made basket. But I don’t think this play was one of them. But to each his own I guess.

X had him pinned under the basket. If Blackshear does the EXACT same thing to X do you think the same call is made?

I know point of emphasis.

How about the contact to Frames face on a moving pick? How about the extended arm for advantage? Were they fouls?

Fouls can be missed. Fouls can also be seen and at the discretion of the ref ignored: A play on.

No argument here. I’m certain fouls are missed and/or allowed to play on in every game played at every level.

As he was boxed out under the basket and the rebound wasn’t in his vicinity-
Yes

The charge call on Davis when he was driving to the hoop unfortunately was the right call. Everything else that happened down the stretch though was just utter incompetency, including several egregious fouls not called on Tech.

Blackshear realistically commited at least 8 fouls yesterday. Several somehow went against Pitt instead and on top of that there were some elbows and shoulders they just completely ignored.

The most frustrating thing though is still how our guards can continuously get murdered in the paint with no calls, yet most of these same crews will call fouls where defenders are going straight up and not making any contact whatsoever.

Blackshear should have fouled out as he laid his shoulder into us more times then their fullback did to our linebackers.
