... you NEVER take your foot off the gas pedal on offense.

Ever.

You know with this D, that no lead is ever safe. Ever. So you can't afford to end the game with 3 straight 3-and-outs.

You can't throw a screen on 3rd and 8 with 3 minutes left to your slowest RB when you KNOW that if you give the ball up that you will likely lose.

A team with a bad closer needs to have a big lead going into the 9th. A team with a bad goalie needs to score more goals late in the game and can't try to win by 1.

And a team with no pass defense needs their offense to stay aggressive until the final whistle.

Narduzzi and Canada played not to lose in the final 8 minutes.

Which is why they lost.

Those prevent offenses and defenses most often get a team beat.

We didn't. In fact if we did we would have ran off another couple minutes and won this game

I might have missed something, but I didn't see any change in the play calling. I saw UNC make stops.

Yes, we did. Our final 3 drives after taking a 36-23 lead were:

Run into the line for small gain.
Run wide for small gain.
Low percentage pass for no gain or incomplete.
Punt.

Prevent offense.

Conner hasn't been very good. He shouldn't even have been in the game on the last series. Yea, the lesson should have been learned after the PS game, if not, then the OSU game- the defense blows - try to score on every possession. Narduzzi is at his worst when Pitt has a lead in the 4th Q

All three drives had 3rd and 6/7/8 with low percentage pass plays on the first 2, and a screen that never had a chance of getting a first down on the last one.

The screen play was bad. Everything else though?
The first two drives... they tried a flat pass that had a very low chance of success... a very small window to put the ball to complete it. Hell, a run might have been better than those calls because at least the clock would've kept moving.

If you're going to go into a shell, go all the way and kill clock.

It was prevent offense.

The flat pass was fine! The issue was the receives couldn't get open. They don't get open over the middle either.

That is the absolute truth asnd the best. ( and mosdt honest). Post this football season. Thanks for saying it.
