Any assistant that doesn't have many suitors would have taken the job. In basketball, a super recruiter can turn any program around in 2 years.

It's a little different in football. Top coordinators make very good money and can be more selective.

He was just clean/ isolated from past issues enough. Duke association likely helped assure. Minority status also. Plus it was a bit like the Haywood situation that made Graham palatable, the Stallings fiasco made us a bit more desperate.

As far as being a savior, Capel almost certainly will be an upgrade to Stallings, heck who wouldn't, but has not won a game yet.
