The NCAA is going to have to make rape cover-ups against its rules

Currently, it is against NCAA rules for an assistant coach to give a player $20 to take his girlfriend out. Do that and you are looking at some type of probation, even if its minor. It is not against NCAA rules to cover up rape with the reason being that that is a crime that should be handled by the justice system. And it is but why does that mean the NCAA should just let these programs off the hook for covering up what is becoming an epidemic in major D1 sports. Penn State got a wrist slap, the loss of a few scholarships and the loss of an exhibition game at the end of the season for harboring one of the nation's biggest sexual predators of all time. Now, I'm sure Baylor will get nothing for their role in rape cover-ups.

The commericals are neat but if the NCAA wants to get serious about sexual assault, make it a rule that those allegations have to be reported and if they are covered up, you face NCAA penalties. Schools like Baylor and PSU should have gotten near-death penalties. This is such a hot button topic that I think its time for the NCAA to take a stand and tell its members, "if you cannot protect women and children from representatives of your football program, maybe you should not have a football program."

Violence against weaker people is bullying. But don't be too hard on the NCAA. Grade schools struggle to be consistent and get it right.

"Bullying" is also in many ways, subjective. Let's not confuse sexual assault and covering up sexual assault with calling a person "fat". They are not in the same league.

think it's time some of these local jurisdictions start to be held accountable.. If they have no knowledge, then you go after the school. I think these local police forces, university police are in fact assisting with the coverup. A lawyer should have a field day with some of this. The Tallahassee police did it with Winston, you cant tell me that they aren't at least hearing about this. In this day and age, everything is documented. How cant a good lawyer track this info down..

Not a great analogy but it's a simple fact that as long as people can take advantage of someone that is weaker, this will continue to happen until it becomes financially inconvenient to the member schools.

The Ped State Rule: You are not allowed to abuse children and if you are aware of anyone even possibly doing this, you must report to police.

Right. You get caught covering up rape. NO FOOTBALL! 2 year death penalty at a minimum. Then those coaches and ADs will be sure everything gets reported. Heck, they'd probably spend some of that TV money on hired chaperones and even lawyers to leave with players and the girls' to have them sign a "consent" document.

A police force is a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect property, and limit civil disorder.[1] Their powers include the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly associated with police services of a sovereign state that are authorized to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility. Police forces are often defined as being separate from military or other organizations involved in the defense of the state against foreign aggressors; however, gendarmerie are military units charged with civil policing.

Well, why limit it to just rape?

I agree with most of your premise, but the problem will be is that most of the schools and their fans won't go for it. Look at how fiercely fsu fans defended Winston. I doubt Baylor fans are going to look at what was easily their most successful decade and do so with shame. Etc

that's what they did with Penn State. There's no mention of Facebook or abortion in Constitution but SCOTUS rules on them. NCAA handled it same way. I think they had to do it like that
