Man, is their fanbase meltingdown at Starkey's article today about how Pitt isn't that far off from PSU. They are all saying about how Clemson would be a middle of the road program in the Big Ten and talking about how tough the big ten is which is just hilarious given that most years their teams go out and get smacked in bowl games.

The fact is, outside of OSU that BIG isn't that good and hasn't been for decades. The BIG west is as bad if not worse than the coastal.

PSU fans are awful because they think they are Alabama but haven't won anything in the last 30 years. They love to mock Pitt fans because we are mediocre...but it isn't like we don't all know that for the most part.

Oh, and nevermind the fact they have a 22 page thread defending Jerry Sandusky on their first page.

And what decent, moral person can defend anything that Sandusky or Paterno did? That's sick and perverted, but expected from that infantile, amoral fanbase.

Pitt has surpassed PissU now. That's obvious.

Pitt alums and fans need to step up to the plate and show up in Charlotte and then the Bowl Game. Stand up and shut up these enablers by showing support and pride in Pitt.

What does this mean? You realize they pump out 3x-4x more graduates out of their diploma mill than we do right?

If we are equal to them, then, that will mean we average 3x-4x less the attendance that they do. We surpass that. We are already better.

I went to Knoxville, Atlanta, Duke games on the road, Pitt was represented very well

It means exactly what it says. Pitt fans need to stop making excuses and support the program. That is the next step if we want to keep the momentum going. College football is a big business.

That was my point. I think we do support the program. At least we have in the past few years quite well

I went to the Duke game. I doubt that the 40,000 seat stadium was half filled, but I think there may have been more Pitt fans there than Duke fans. Which amazed me. Pitt can get 10,000 for a game at Duke, but struggles to get 40,000 at home.

Yeah, while I get annoyed with our attendance, it is annoying as hell to hear their constant harping on it, as they have so many more grads than Pitt it is hilarious.

100,000 Branch Campus Dummies are afraid. That's a great sign.

Yeah. They're right about Clemson, Not.

Here's a little reminder:

UVA 42 - All mighty Illinois 14, a week after All mighty Illinois beat BIG Power Nebraska by 14.

I hope Pedo State gets to play weak little Clemson in their bowl game.

Starkey's article today never mentions Pitt at all. Not even once, not even in passing.

WTF are you talking about?

The myth of how great the big ten boggles the mind. They have one nationally legit program. And for how many years did Ohio State get waxed in the big bowl games? It seemed like they ruined every national championship game with the BCS because they were undefeated in a crappy Big Ten and got destroyed by LSU or some other SEC team . Only recently have they been legit on the biggest stage.

I dont get annoyed at attendance at all. It means zilch to my fandom. I care if the current student populous is attending, that is about all.

Pitt has a strange fanbase. Very loyal group of 20K fans with many going road, bowl games but a "casual fanbase" of like 0 which is why you dont see a huge attendance difference between a Thursday night game during a 6-6 season or a Saturday game in a 10-2 season for the Coastal Championship.

Usually the road games I go to have tons of Pitt fans.

Conference doesn't even matter all that much, as long as you are in one of the top 4. What matters is the tier your program is at. It's Bama, OSU, and Clemson top tier. The next tier are programs like Georgia, ND, Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma and some others. Penn State would be in the third tier with programs like Wisconsin, Auburn, Florida (slipping). I think Pitt would be in the fourth tier with a shot to move into the third in the years ahead with more good years.

Unfortunately for the State Penn fans, Franklown isn't the guy to get them into the next tier. Recruiting and preseason rankings... yes! But not actual results at the year's end.

We are still behind our peers in donations. Actions speak louder than words.
This. Even in the acc. We have the 3rd most living alumni but are next to last in donations.

Pitt admin have been investing much more heavily in all our programs but giving hasn't kept up.

And with the recent coaching contracts. It's going to get even more expensive to compete.

Btw, if they think Clemson would be a middle of the pack program in the big, they haven't been watching Clemson the past few years.

They are no doubt the worst. But since Addison was named a finalist for the Biletnikoff, I do have an appreciation for the insufferable arrogance of the Ohio State fan base. None of the vaunted OSU WRs was a finalist and their fans are all over Twitter crying about it. Look at the replies to any Biletnikoff or Addison tweet and guaranteed there is some crap about about “Earth, Wind and Fire” or someone taking shots at a kid you just know half of them have never ever seen play.

Do what I do - hate the entire Fat 10. They’re all insufferable asses

Starkey is incorrect. Pitt is not close to Penn State. Last two years, Pitt is far superior. Penn State has been closer to Temple than Pitt. Stats dont lie.

One fact NOT up for debate is that they are all above average jagoffs.

A lot of those Pgh folks displaced in the 80s weren’t just Steeler fans, but Pitt fans too. Then they start families and pass fandom down.

And no there certainly isnt the same scale, but not surprising that we have 10k show up at a game in North Carolina.
