If there wasn't a salary cap he might make something like $60+ million a year. The CBA basically limits the best players' actual value in order to do some things the owners want (theoretically protect smaller markets, keep teams from bidding against each other until they're losing money) and some things the players want (have a minimum salary structure, allow teams to pay more to keep their own veterans, etc.) Lebron helps subsidize the league as a whole, not that he's hurting.
