one of the best opening days of the tournament ever. The two big upsets early. Two overtime games, including one that got to overtime on a buzzer beater tonight. A near upset from Harvard. And now an NC State basket with 0.1 seconds left to win their game.

And oh, yeah, there is still a 12 seed tied with a 5 seed half way through the second half and a 13 seed beating a four seed late in the first half in two of the games still going on, so it could get even better.

My son sent us a great picture of he and his friends going nuts. SO much fun.

Agree and ...

... we've probably said this many, many times by now, but going to having 4 games on 4 different networks really is indeed a wonderful thing.

Did he....

come up for the game? Because it would have been great to have that happen while watching with his friends on campus, but if they were down at Consol for that great comeback and finish that would have been an experience to remember for a lifetime.

Unforunately no. No way they can miss any classes. He said everyone came spilling out into his apt complex parking lot. I'm sure it's going to be a very late night.

I'm trying to convince them to roadtrip up here for Saturday's game.

We are such sports geeks. Greatest 2 days every year.

Not so much "sports" anymore for me ...

... just College Hoops only, really. I've kina lost interest in the Pens. Only watched about half of the Steelers games.

Before they switched to....

four games on four different networks DirecTV had a pay per view package in conjunction with CBS where you could buy all the tournament games. I think it was something like $40 or $50 for all the games. I bought it every year, because there was nothing worse for a big hoops fan to be stuck on a night like tonight with the local CBS channel showing a Kentucky blowout while Wofford and Arkansas were going down to the wire elsewhere.

I'm just sitting here with my eyes rolling around. Amazing games.

Feeling no tension, just having a blast. Rather be pacing and talking to myself.

This has been a really great one but Arkansas will survive*

Not to be the spoil sport but I didn't see Pitt play too often this season with the same sense of excitement and urgency as everybody today.

It would have been...

great, and a fitting capper to the night's games, if one of those two open threes in the last few seconds by Wofford had gone in. However, when you are down three and get the ball with 30 seconds left and you essentially play for the last shot you don't deserve any better.

Seriously, did Wofford think they were only down two there or something? Did no one realize that they couldn't afford to just dribble the clock away and not even try to score until around 10 seconds left? And that was after a time out. Just what in the heck were they thinking?

I just don't think they could get into anything ...

... having said this, they got two very good looks at three. You can't ask for much more than that. I really thought the last one would go.

It's also some of the worst basketball I've seen

Nobody can hold onto leads or make free throws and most of the teams lose their composure very quickly. I've never seen more double digit blown losses in my life.

Great day with some negatives that aren't even bracket related: UCLA, Ohio State and Georgetown winning.

Really? I myself, miss the days of waiting all year in anticipation of Pitt playing in the tournament only to have Greg Gumbel break in and say..."let's take a live lookin at the Duke/St Francis game" during the game...

Absolutely. Just stupendous! And again, how long did it take for CBS to partner and show each and every game, but it is fantastic. These two days are amongst my favorite days in sports. It is great you can just look up at the ticker from whatever game you are watching and switch over to another thriller.

I have to say, the Committee really did themselves well in not just selecting, but seeding teams to create compelling games.

One other thought, please....for the love of god and not the love of greed. Don't Change! I don't need to see the 10th best team in a Power conference over a Ga State or a Robert Morris. Seeing a bloated in the loss column Pitt or Indiana over some of these small conferences would not make a better and more interesting tourneyment.

Let some innocence and Cinderella aspects drive this thing.

OH NO!!! I'm agreeing with recruits....

Where are my meds???

I truly think the Dance is the very best of all sporting events. Better than the Olympics, even. Total focus on a great game, played mostly with incredible passion.

Can't wait until our guys are part of the magic.

What a great game NC State was. I was adamant with everyone at work they'd win. Thank god they bailed me out in the end....

I know, right???? Not every, but many of his classes and all his labs are mandatory attendance. And the penalties are typically pretty big. Not worth going down a whole letter grade.

Watching the game you definitely could tell LSU had better overall talent (at least 2 of those kids will be in the NBA), but they fell apart. You're only as good as you finish.
