This Peterman situation is too forced for my liking.

It almost seems like some people care about and are loyal to "Chad" the person! Screw that, all players are disposable parts to be discarded if a superior performing part comes along. Peterman is the better player, seniority means nothing.
I don't know how you can say Peterman is the better player. Two of his first five passes were intercepted against Iowa. Both were bad throws regardless of what Duzz says about Boyd on the first one. Can't say that didn't cost us the game. He's had those Tino like sacks in every game since Akron. The Akron sack was pathetic as it was 4th down and he just held onto the ball.
Voytik has never thrown more than one interception in a game.
Chad played better towards the end of last season because they were letting him take off and run more.
Ding, ding, ding. Winner.
Chaney is too stubborn to have any creativity in this years offense. Was there ever a designed run for Chad before the VT game?

Peterman and Voytik have the exact number of years of eligibility remaining, namely this year and next. Not sure how you can be so certain that Peterman is the "better" player based upon what opportunities each guy has had this season--and the plays they were asked to execute. So long as Pitt wins, I really do not care who the QB is that plays. I'm looking forward to seeing some terrific passing offense out of Peterman on Saturday. Hail to Pitt!

Does anyone else feel like Narduzzi is starting to support Chad a little more (ill be watching for the number of plays he gets and pass play calls this week). HCPN previously mentioned he can't help but think of how Chad practiced all summer against JC in sprints and how he thought they should have thrown the ball in his first series at VT. I will be interested to see if Chad's competitive attitude wins over Narduzzi to get him another shot at the job. I think it is clear that Peterman has done a better job going through his progressions and looks calmer in the pocket, but with the injuries (from jjs to jc) that have impacted the running game you have to look at Chad during the first half of the VT game and say....maybe that could help the offensive rhythm. Lastly, is anyone else thinking Chaney is the "offensive" Matt House? I'd be lying if I said the thought hasn't crossed my mind.

Why is it we always refuse to assign any accountability at all to the players? Why is it always the coaches' fault?

That door doesn't seem to swing both ways. If Peterman plays well are we all going to congratulate Jim Chaney? No, we are not. However, because Chad played poorly it's somehow all Chaney's fault? That doesn't make any sense. I reject that out of hand.

Peterman has looked pretty average. He has a decent arm, that is for sure. However, the truth is his release is slow, his accuracy spotty and he is an inconsistent decision maker. He hasn't exactly blown me away with his performance.

Still though, that guy has shown more in four games at Pitt than Chad has shown in three years. I don't say that to shit on the kid at all. However, while people are fitting themselves for pom-poms and poodle skirts, somebody needs to tell the truth.

The biggest myth going is that Voytik played great in the second half of last season. That is completely untrue. He simply played better than he had to start the season, when he was absolutely horrible.

That is not to say that I think Chad is a horrible quarterback. I think most second year quarterbacks tend to struggle.

However, I absolutely expected him to come out this year and seize control of the position. He is in his third year now and it is time to grow up. The fact is that he did not do that in preseason practices and he certainly didn't do that in any of the games.

Instead, a guy transferred in from another school and was pretty much dead even with him right from the start. And in the games, No. 4 has outperformed No. 16.

I know, I know. That's all because of playcalling opportunities and blah, blah, blah. That's a bunch of nonsense. These coaches are going to play the guy that they think it's been the best chance to win. This isn't Little League football. This is major college football.

I would go with the transfer too. At least he has some upside. He is a bigger kid with a better arm and he seems to have a more firm grasp of the offense. Where is the goddamn controversy here? I do worry that Peterman is not good enough. However, I am convinced that he's the best option we have.

The Chaney/House comparison is fantastical ...

House was a quality control assistabt for the rams in 2011 and pitts defensive coordinator two years later.

Chaney was a college offensive coordinator when House was in middle school.

Agree strongly.

I like and respect Chad a LOT. I also just assumed the job would be his this year.

But as a returning starter he lost the job simple as that.

This is where the accountability does fall on Chaney some in terms of putting players in positions to succeed. Which I don't know that I can really recall happening...consistently (multiple series in a half)

I think 3 years is tough to say for Chad considering this year he has had 3 quarters in the season opener to "justify himself".

(Even if NP does seem calmer in the pocket)

Just saying Chaney's offense is 0-4 in term of having a efficient/ consistent performance and I don't see any coaching/calls that promote that going forward (ie what happen to throwing to the backs?..as stated all summer). Especially from a "multiple formations" coach who doesn't want a versatile qb who does everything the coaches ask. As a Pitt Fan I am going to support whoever is playing but offensive philosophy and personal just don't seem to jive....

Combining a few things.

Ive seen every play of every game in person. The weather at VT was not as bad as it may have looked on TV. Rain was a mist most of the game and very little wind.

We will have a lot more data about this situation after Saturday. It would be in the best interest of the program for Peterman to step forward at this point. Have not seen a lot of reasons to believe that will be the case to date.

NP ran the offense in 2 hostile environments, I think he is going to play better each week and has the size and arm strength tp make all the throws. I think defenses where seeing CV as someone who can run and make the short throws but not the long throws unless there is mucho time.
