This thread on UGa's board is classic....

Much higher. I would say 70% percent of BWI and 40% of over-all fanbase.

I know you've gone against the grain there. This is just the outing of what we all knew about PSU.

Well, less than 50% of the people who voted in PSU alumni BoT elections voted for the likes of Anthony Lubrano --- and only ~ 9% of eligible alumni voted.

Your numbers (which are just "spitball" numbers) don't reconcile with the above --- which are factual numbers.

Wow, my favorite from reading the thread:

"All of Penn State's TE's are freshmen. That's because by the time they are sophomores, they've been "converted" to WRs."

Another favorite "If an older woman who likes younger men is called a cougar, is an older man that likes young boys called a Nittany Lion?"

If you have an issue with those folk, talk to them.

I disagree with them and say so, but ultimately they are entitled to their opinion.

They're not a majority of Penn State folk. Maybe 10%. As to that 10%, that is unfortunately the expected baseline. Just look around you: 10% of the general public is idiots.

I'm sorry man, but this is hilarious.

And despite that Lubrano was still elected and is now the patron saint for misguided and restless souls in State College.

All that shows me is if all your eligible alumni voted, St. Lubrano probably would have won in record fashion. Take my word for it, you'll be hearing calls from BWI members for him to run for Governor, no doubt.

He's the new face the university. A real rockstar.

Jaypa must be jealous.

To answer your question, I'm in the "Paterno followed the letter of the law but failed morally" camp.

That said, he's dead, and been dead for awhile. I don't really see the point of discussing him overly much any more.
Michnittlion, some good responses with good analysis. Can you answer some questions and won't comment back on them.

1. Do you think Joe Paterno stayed too long as Head Coach? When do you think he should have retired?

2. It is my contention Joe was bit confused his last 5 years. Very ill at time and now known had Cancer?

It is my opinion he became confused and was not the same type of coach he was in the early 1990s And why his Program came out of Compliance's?

3. I see your points on Paterno being dead but when will the Paterno's move on and drop the Lawsuit against Penn State?

4. Do you think the statue should go back up?

5. Your evaluation and opinion of Franklin?

6. In my opinion, part of the problem was the Fina Investigation that was sloppy and had some wrong facts and leaked the Grand Jury Report?

Thanks, I have read your post on Michigan Boards, you talk Football, please do the same on tne Lair, no problem since we can always agree to disagree as all can contribute to insights!.

I have to stick up for michnittlion. He's not a Joebot. The Cult on BWI hates him because he has the audacity to be critical of Joesus. The Cult hates michnittlion so much that they have started threads on BWI asking for him to be banned from the board. In addition, the Cult claims that MNL has a pathological hatred of the Paterno family and is on the payroll of the Penn St. Board of Trustees.

Michnit, I've read BWI from time to time, and know you get called out for being a troll, which just shows how fascistic so many of them are. Drink the Kool-aid fully, or you get attacked.

BTW, Paterno followed the letter of the PSU HR manual, not the law. There is no law that says you can't pick up the phone and call the police to report information related to a possible crime.

But I agree with you, Paterno is long since dead, no point continuing to discuss HIM. But it concerns me that by promoting the false belief that it is illegal to notify the police in such instances, one of these cultists is actually going to have info on a similar crime one day and think they can't do the responsible thing, out of fear that they might be doing something illegal.

I'll answer --- relatively short answers to each question:

(1) Yes, he stayed too long. Don't know an exact year he should have retired, but it was obvious by 2011 that he simply wasn't able to stand up to the rigors of being a Head Coach.

(2) At the very least, there was a pretty notable decline between the 2009-2010 seasons. I'm not a doctor, but the declinee was pretty alarming even from my view 400 miles away from State College. Joe's family was doing him a disservice if they didn't point that out himself.

(3) The Paternos aren't currently suing Penn State, except for this "nominal defendant" nonsense. As regards the NCAA, I don't think they will EVER drop that lawsuit. It is going the distance.

(4) No. It's not going back up anyway.

(5) Franklin has been disappointing thus far, but the book isn't completely written on him yet. Does need to get his first "big win" at Penn State. The Alligator Bowl against Georgia provides yet another opportunity.

(6) There's no doubt the Fina investigation was somewhat sloppy --- for example, getting the month AND year of the McQueary incident. Still, I think Sandusky was guilty, and it is correct that C/S/S were indicted.

MNL tried to talk a little sense to the BWI Cult of Joe but he learned quick the real face of those folks. I'll give credit where credit is due, those branch-campuser's are a feisty bunch. Poor guy, tried to be reasonable and told the truth and they ran him off for it.

The NCAA decided to punish Penn State, the punishment was served by the school without complaint, and the penalty period is now over.

What other "decisions" are there to be made?!?!?!?
You clearly have no clue.

Excellent Post, it is fair, with parts having reasonable conclusions over complicated issues, and over a murky investigation that took far too long, and over 40 years period of Sandusky's The Second Mile with attempts to destroy emails, notes, and had a political agenda that caused much of the confusion. Welcome to the Lair and keep posting your insights, opinions, on football!
