This Tweet hasn't Aged Well

He has to be kidding, right? Maybe he was referring to the hillbilly shack he's building in the backwoods somewhere.

Can you believe the ego? It’s incredible to me.
Yep, at least if Pitt played "The City Game" the kids would get to play in front of some fans, but he is so above the program and City that such an opponent is beneath him and same for HL, ImO.

Mr. Twitter is no longer tweeting all of the sudden.

One of the 4 principals of JC’s “Brick by Brick” is “We make no excuses”…but in his press conference after another horrible loss today he has the nerve to say “ we’re a young team and I’m not trying to make an excuse“… No wonder we are so bad when the guy in charge can’t follow his own principles. In addition to lack of recruiting, player development and poor coaching.

What do you think of the younger players? I tend to think that he has building blocks with Femi, John, Santos and Jeffress but I have no confidence in his ability to develop and coach them.

If Ben, JD or another guy who could develop players was coaching them it could/might be a different story. But I agree with you he hasn’t shown ability to develop guys.

He is further hurt by that he has such little momentum that he likely cannot supplement them with HS/prep guys presently. He probably is limited to the transfer portal after the year unless things turn or he wants to reach (or just gets really lucky).

Who do you think they should hire next?

Honestly don’t follow these things like I once did. Would have to do some research… Anyone you like for the job?

yep if JC is back it’s going to be near impossible to recruit.

I am the same; not as versed as I once was. I know this sounds lazy, but I get the sense that it is Brandin's time. In a plus, he cannot be worse than this. He may actually be able to retain Femi, Horton, Jeffress and Femi as well.

Weather it’s the next hot mid major guy, BK, or a vet with a troubled past…anyone should be an upgrade.

That's the 4 some that in my opinion is going to make Capel or break Capel in the end along with Horton.

Femi was quite good today again. We got killed for the 2nd game in a row when Femi came off the floor with 2 fouls and then we proceeded to get outscored by 14 with him watching on the bench.

Our starting point guard has now made 14-15 straight free throws and is shooting 46% from 3 for the season. Femi can shoot, and some people are starting to see it. Femi needs to take over as the leader. He hasn't done that yet and he needs to. He has to become Knight as a leader to save Capel imho because I dont see anybody else doing it besides Femi.

John has been good on one end of the floor, offense. He is bad on defense. I blame part of his bad defense on being overweight and out of shape. He's slow. He can fix that with another offseason.

Nate has been ok and is a freshmen.

Jeffress is ok on defense and is inconsistent on that end. He brings very little on offense and the opposing team is literally daring him to shoot with the amount of space he gets every game. He is hurting our entire offense just by being on the floor because nobody respects him from the opposing team.

I think Femi will get better and better as this season moves forward with or without Capel's help, he is going to be a really good college player.

Its to early to predict anything else between John, Nate, or Will.

I do think Ithiel Horton if / when he comes back will be an enormous boost to Femi, because there will be a lot more spacing with an actual legit 3 point shooter for Femi to operate. I do think Horton will also help Big John. Defenses continue to pack it inside without the shooters.

We have very little to hang our hat on after 6 games.

It is almost unfathomable that this is the case. Capel always had a boom/bust factor, but the fail here has been sharp.

I really would not be upset to see them try the Howland style route with a Todd Becker or someone like that. They looked at that route hard last time evidently.

For some reason though, I keep coming back to Brandin with this one. No one wants the job more or would try harder, that is certain. And, he would recruit better than they have been doing and instill discipline. But, it would be taking another big shot, of course.

There is a lot here, but at the end of the day, I believe in the talent. Not sure any of it will stay. But, I like the blocks, I really do.

I think you said something fascinating; you said make or break. I think Ithiel was/is the guy that probably broke Capel. They would be a lot better with him, Capel put a lot of hope into the kid and he let them down completely so far.

Well, that is a lot more than I had before I read your post. The problem is, very shortly the competition is going to get much better, how does a team react to getting destroyed?

Did you watch the game today?

Nate was benched when we needed scoring.

Femi and Burton were both benched for Onye for a 5 minute stretch that helped UMBC stretch the lead.

I like Femi Nate Burton Hugley Noah and Will and think they can be a solid core.

But the coaching or lack thereof is killing them.

Why are we holding the damn ball at the end of the game and playing with zero urgency

Why do we not trap them at the end of the game until 30 seconds left — they had a 5’2 pg for god sake and we have a 6’5 and 6’3 backcourt — trap him how does he get rid of the ball?

Why did we not post Femi up one time on him?????

Lol. Those guys aren’t good or good building blocks. If they were, we wouldn’t get routinely pounded.

Femi is 20. He’s not young. XJ lite
Will Jeffress is possibly the worst regular player in D1. He should go play football or med school because he’s simply not a basketball player
Santos is whatever. People called him the next Ron Ramon because he hit 3 3’s once.
Hugley disappears for entire games and is a baby

I honestly don’t know what games you guys are watching

Malibu John would be a good building block for a team looking to get discounts at Nordstroms

Yeah, I don't know. When you're talking about four and five guys, I don't think they're building blocks as much as they are our literal team. And our team is exceptionally bad. If four players were that good, the team wouldn't be this bad.

I've not watched much this year, but I haven't really noticed anything we do well. We can't shoot. We're not some long, athletic bunch that's going to give the other team fits. What do we do well, really?

I assume we are more athletic than some of these mid-major teams, but they operate so much more efficiently - because they are coached better and have an actual system in place - that it pretty much negates that advantage to a point where it appears the other way around. We look like a randomly-assembled pickup basketball team every game.
