- Nice bounce back win after the debacle against PSU and first half by both the offense and defense from Pitt
- Yet another second half turd in a punch bowl from the offense. Three points total through three games in the second half
- The reverse throw that was picked off.....WHY WHY WHY? You are up with a solid comfortable lead that had already forced GT into passing the ball (which they are terrible at and takes them away from their vaulted triple option run attack). We had just ripped the ball away for a turnover on their end of the field going in. Favorable clock on our side. And we take a low percentage trick play where we throw into double coverage (that goes against Pickett who should have either ate it for a loss or tried to run with it). Just stupid and dumb. Both on Watson and Narduzzi for that gigantic pile poop of a play. Let GT right back into it with the big return (which there was a huge hold by GT that should have been called) and it at least becomes a 10 pt swing on that play and GT with all the momentum.
- Narduzzi's defense still gave up 320 yards rushing to GT....which I guess on the bright side is below what GT has done to his defense the previous three games averaging over 350 yards per game on the ground
- Stupid penalties at crucial times. Something that Pitt always tends to do regardless of the year or coaching staff
- GTs coaching staff luckily also made some very stupid decisions as well with the fake punt and going for it on 4th rather than take the points with a FG
- Its a win that shouldnt have even been as close as it was...and honestly its on the coaches and not the players.
- Also, I dont want to hear anything more from the coaches blaming the players for the coin toss last week and insinuating the captains didnt know what defer to the second half meant. Pitt won the toss today and chose to receive the ball.
- I didnt expect too many in the stands given the loss against PSU even with the nice weather this week....and that proved accurate. Not a good crowd. Guessing maybe high 30s? More students came than I expected....but then left at the half and third quarter. Standard for the Pitt students.
- To summarize it all...its a good bounce back win but we have some major issues on this team. Defense still seems to have issues which will be highlighted against teams who can throw the ball. The offense of only throws outside the hashes and just not a great scheme or play calls also appear to be a challenge for Pitt that can hamper them. But we are 1-0 in the conference and 2-1 overall. Need to get the win against UNC given we have some major challenges then against Notre Dame and UCF to wrap up the OOC schedule.
