Saw a tweet that Pitt sold over 8K tickets for the Military Bowl.

Pitt only averaged 2,900 tickets sold from 2008-2014.

Good job Panther fans!

We are probably very lucky not to get the Pinstripe Bowl. The Dec. 26 date is a killer and we probably wouldn't have sold many tickets considering freaking Indiana is the opponent. That would have been another black eye for us.

Now, lets say next year the Music City has to choose between us, GT, and Miami.....we have shown we will travel to a drivable bowl on a good date after a good season.

Belk Bowl game in Charlotte is where Pitt should have been. I'm curious how we would have traveled there on Dec 30.

IMO the Belk Bowl with Mississippi State probably wouldn't have moved the needle much for our fan base. Certainly IU on the 26th may have been really ugly. I think ending up in the Military, which allowed us to have a strong showing of support is the best case scenario for an 8-4 team.

The ticket sales certainly help. However, I would expect that for the next two years the Music City Bowl will very likely select whichever Big Ten team is the most agreeable. The six year agreement has the ACC going to the game 3 times and the Big Ten going 3 times, and since the first two years of the agreement have had pseudo-ACC Notre Dame and Louisville, the Bowl game will only be able to select an ACC team one more time until 2020.

Also, I live near the University of Indiana and have heard similar complaints about the date of the bowl game.
