Tim Benz getting abused

I don't dispute anything he has said. Just pointing out that stating ANYTHING remotely negative about PSU dooms you with the Pittsburgh media (ruled by godfather Jerry Micco) or especially saying anything critical of the Steelers. Thanks to his shattering those two rules in the past, Madden is blacklisted among the mainstream. Madden wouldn't even have the fringe jobs he has now if he weren't more of a sideshow act with the wrestling spiel and all.
I agree with that. Not only is that true though, but it's the fans of the steelers who also dislike madden. Idk me personally, I don't need to hear a steelers love fest 24/7. If the players are getting out of control, if someone continuously is doing something wrong on the field, no harm in mentioning it on a radio show. Except it apparently is against protocol to do that on radio shows here.

I'm not saying rip everyone apart every chance you get (sometimes he has taken it too far.) But as a fan sometimes I would like to simply hear what is wrong with the team.

I think the protocol is that is acceptable to criticize individual players for poor play or even for player's getting in trouble. But it's never ok to point out issues with the Steelers ownership. For example once Dan Rooney came out and endorsed James Harrison for his wife abuse, it was immediately forbidden to mention or question ever again. And it never has been. There are plenty other examples too.

PSU mainly gets favoritism due to key grads they have in the media (and now the mayor). Their true impact locally is small, especially relative to Pitt, though. Alum numbers in the county don't compare despite lies frequently perpetuated. The favoritism is frankly way unjust and definitely sports-driven. Hopefully when some of the satanic old guard like Micco, Cook, Smizik, Stan, GuyPa, etc finally, wonderfully, die off, that favoritism will abate, though there will still be other of their ilk in the media.

But I definitely understand the Steelers favoritism, because the near total (voting and media consuming) populace loves them ... for winning as they do. Which means politicians will cave to everything they want, and media will relentlessly cheerlead for them (and willingly black ball anyone who doesn't totally do so...like Madden).

This is why I plead for PITT to invest in the same kind of winning! Pitt and UPMC have so much more impact (exponentially so over PSU) yet get crapped on ... and great sports would turn that around.
