Tipton torn ACL per peak

Very sad. The young man is from my town of Apollo and I got to watch him play in high school and he stayed pretty healthy. He has so much ability and has been hit with some bad luck. Get well Tre! Hope your ready for 2018!

Tough break for Tre. Seems like Pitt is losing a good player a month right now - not good!

Fortunately Coach Duzz has developed some depth...

Go Pitt.

Aaron Mathews gets to step up now. It's probably our most stacked position this year but Tre showed real promise will be a loss

Hope so. But AM needs a bit of a leap in development pretty fast to be a real impact player IMO. He was young, possibly rushed into the lineup faster than desired, and they had the luxury of not needing to run many plays through him with so many other weapons, but he didn't appear to be giving them much of a reason to, either. Hopefully a breakthrough is coming.

im not so sure Matthews' skill sets is good for that flanker position. he is more suited for the position Weah is at.. I'd guess either Ffrench or that freshman coming in get first crack..

Hate seeing it happen in a Non-Football Injury and that will hurt his progress, but in Today's World ACL's heal well now. It up to Tre to focus on getting better and stay on guard when working out or do other activities. Pitt has had other Players overcome adversities and still kept developing and end up contributing later as 4th and 5th Year Role Players. Time to Heal, stay focused, and keep learning how to be better for Pitt team in the future. It will be more interesting on how the other Wideouts respond now and that includes a grand opportunity of Pitt's Florida's Recruit Smith that everyone is saying is a Special Player. Tre Tipton was a Contributor when healthy and this second Knee Injury and sad to lose his experience for this important season. Yet, Price, Conner, Whitehead and others all stayed focused and were a big part of Pitt success later. Tre will be back and wish him the Best in healing.
Excerpt:
Pitt receiver Tre Tipton out for season with knee injury
The injury was not football-related, coach Pat Narduzzi said in a release. This will be the third consecutive year Tipton, an Apollo-Ridge graduate, will be forced to miss significant playing time. He was out for all but four games with a knee injury in 2015, his freshman year, and was given a medical redshirt. Last year, he played in the first nine games, including a start against North Carolina, before missing the remainder of the season. Tipton said he suffered a collapsed lung in the Miami game Nov. 5..............His absence is a blow to Pitt's depth at wide receiver, but it could open further opportunities for Rafael Araujo-Lopes, Maurice Ffrench, Aaron Mathews and Ruben Flowers................“He is an absolutely outstanding young man and teammate. Even though he is unable to play this fall, we know Tre is going to be an invaluable figure in our wide receivers room while he rehabs. That's the type of person and competitor he is, and he'll have our fullest support as he works for a full recovery.”

Yeah, Tre's injury could get Michael Smith on the field. He already has the size at 6-2 and 200+ pounds... Hope he's a fast learner.

Go Pitt.
Fitzgerald and Boyd both came out in First Year at Pitt, if the talent is there, just takes hard work and Fitz did go to Junior College, but still great Players make Great Plays early and often.

What does the Tre Tipton loss mean for Pitt in 2017?
.........................The good news, if you want to call it that, is that the team has plenty of other options as backups, including Aaron Mathews, former four-star recruit Ruben Flowers, and Maurice Ffrench, among others. This also opens the door a little for a guy like Rafael Araujo-Lopes, who hasn't had a ton of opportunity yet but was praised by Narduzzi earlier this year during the spring practices. That doesn't even mention the incoming freshmen, including Michael Smith, who was also offered by Notre Dame. If there's one thing Pitt has at receiver, it's options. As was the theme last year, there are plenty of bodies here...................

IDK about receiver, but George Aston does a fantastic job catching the ball for someone who was on defense in high school.

Has he dropped a ball thrown to him in a game?
Dunno if any drops ... but I sure wish he hadn't been tripped up by the imaginary wire on the field inches short of the goal line in the bowl game on the first drive...

That was definitely an "only Pitt" moment.

Tipton and Matthews weren't going to be used the same way.

Tough break for Tipton and he has talent, but the good news is for the first time in a while we are pretty well off depth wise at all WR slots.
