Talent wise, no. When we look at this year's final record, there will be a distinct resemblance.
Also got beat 34-0 by WVU at home in game 1. Some of our fans have forgotten what Majors II was really like. I can't blame them, but I haven't forgotten.resemblance in the record only. That 4-7 in 1996 was an illusion as it was worse than the record looked. It included being outscored 117-0 in back to back weeks against OSU and Miami, and losing 60-6 to ND and 55-7 against Syracuse. If you think this year is anywhere close to that, I don't know what to say to you.
We aren't anywhere near Majors II. It's simply SMF dramatizing for shock value.
A quick check on 247, 361 players reported Penn State offers last year and 56 were WRs and I doubt all were committable considering they took 1 WR in class. Programs today throw out offers at rates that would have been considered crazy just a few years ago and it makes it really hard to know who has a good offer. Heck 74 WRs reported Pitt offers last year and I you can guarantee that many were not committable based on the schools they chose.Blue Blood offers from ND and UM as a DB not as a WR.
As a WR they were basically the same recruit. They basically have the same type of offer sheet as WR's.
In terms of PSU offer, it was committable. Did it have an expiration date on it - yes. If Jimmy Franks extends an offer, they aren't non-committable.
You did see the 1st sentence??? I am not saying we are anywhere near Majors 2. We however, don't have enough talent in key places to succeed against this schedule. My point is simply that this year's record will resemble that 4-7 team. In fact, I have a hard time envisioning 3 more wins with our schedule. Hopefully VT will be one.resemblance in the record only. His HS coach has been one of my closest friends for 15 years. His offer was committable but did indeed have an expiration date.A quick check on 247, 361 players reported Penn State offers last year and 56 were WRs and I doubt all were committable considering they took 1 WR in class. What a classy guy you are. Jeez.STHU, loser and pay attention you cross-eyed elf!
They aren’t good players! They’re average to above average players! Yeah, that’s exactly what Pitt needs, more average local players!
Beat it you low IQ, basement dwelling turd!
That's some fresh thinking there, GG, but I'm not convinced you are right (not saying you are not). 2021 would not have happened without 5 and 6 year players.I think the problem is the small classes. When you're recruiting mostly 3*s instead of 4*s you're going to have a lower hit rate, no matter who you are.
They fell victim to loving the guys they had and kept them around with the Covid year. Guys like Danielson, Greene, Bentley are good to have when you have a guy like Kancey. Without him, they're average. Same with OL and LB.
They need to recruit numbers every year and separate the wheat from the chaff. You can't recruit class sizes in the teens. Then use the portal to fill in where needed.
