I thought he was going to LSU.
I could definitely see that happening with Strong. Texas needs to cut the cord, and hire Herman. Strong is still a good coach, and would do well at a low pressure place like Rutgers, or UConn, both of whom should be on the phone to Strong the second he's fired.LSU did the same thing last year with miles to just fire him med way this year
Texas should keep Charlie Strong. He came in 3 short years ago and cleaned house. If Texas doesn't want to go down the road of mediocrity and instability like a certain program we all love then they ought to give this guy his full 5 years to get things right.Repprt out their from Texas writers is that their passing on Herman and might keep strong....talk about a horrible athletic department and people thought we had it bad,Texas is a hot mess

NOT SO FAST: http://www.chron.com/sports/cougars/article/UH-offers-Tom-Herman-big-raise-to-stay-with-10635138.phpI thought he was going to LSU.

One of the goofiest things I'd read was that after poor October in Houston, Herman lost steam. Then, after beating Louisville handily, he regained it. I gave the boosters at UT the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was nonsense.Or Texas is further evaluating his replacement, who is getting smacked around in Memphis.
The way things are in Texas, the next coach is always the best coach. Like the backup QB is always the best one on the roster. One of the goofiest things I'd read was that after poor October in Houston, Herman lost steam. Rutgers is interesting. An absolute mess but nothing a good coach couldn't turn around in a few years.
Tons of talent in state and big ten money.
Hottest name in the nation just lost to Memphis. I think Herman's legit but he had an odd year. Definitely showed up big in the biggest games. But the losses leave a bit to be desired. Gonna finish with the 4th or 5th best record in AAC league play.
No doubt he will be with another successful season or two at Memphis.Yep. The Fighting Norvellators just took it to Tom Terrific.
Maybe "Speed, Jr." should be the hot coaching property.
I have no idea if he is a great coach or not, what I do know is it's pretty damn nice having LSU and Texas in a bidding war for your services..Hottest name in the nation just lost to Memphis. No doubt. But, that was a pretty weak October for Houston. Lost to Navy and then SMU by 20+ in October. He's good. Don't get me wrong. But, he was more impressive last season than he was this season.Talk about a distraction. Bad timing for the story linking him to either Texas or LSU; the night before a game.

Herman to Texas will probably happen.

I say give Orgeron a shot. He has held the team together, had some decent wins and could recruit good. LSU just hired Herman so I feel for those Houston kids now, they are losing a good coach.
Yeah, LSU just promoted Orgeron to full time HC.
They said they would not be held hostage by Herman. That probably means he said no.
Herman used LSU to get the offer from Texas, the job he wanted all along. Well done, I guess.
