Top 2023 QB backing out of FLA commitment after $13 million deal not honored

That is some serious money ... What is the kid's incentive to work hard at football if he's getting $13 million that is not tied to his performance on the field?

It's not even that. Out of all the players, even 4 stars and 5 stars, how many will actually ever make that payday in the NFL? you are paying that big money to someone that hasn't even proven they can play college football yet. It's actually funny, they are getting this money because they were good at high school football. I remember a lot of kids that where super stars and even went to D1 and never even played at that level.

Maybe that's why he is backing out. There is some sort of structure or qualifier to getting all of that, and he wants it all now.

I know money for QBs in the NFL is even greater, but there's little incentive to try to make it to the NFL if you can get $13 million before most kids even graduate high school.

Do we have any proof that those numbers are anywhere near accurate?

Something sounds very fishy to me.
Not only is there no proof on the accuracy of those numbers, both the kid and his father are denying that he has asked to be let out of his commitment to UF.

If i read correctly elsewhere, without this kid Florida has 2 unproven backups and a transfer from Wisconsin who did nothing but hand the ball off

To play the SEC schedule plus preseason top 10 Florida State

Imagine what a Tyrelle Pryor might get if he graduated high school today?? He could have gotten alot more than a few tattoos and the car he got to drive. Although, one has to wonder if he didn't get a whole lot more than that illegally???

As well as his ‘advisor’ Charlie Batch…

These numbers are always going to be inflated. No one has any incentive to lie about it being smaller. Makes the player look good to get paid more. Makes the school look like it can play with the big boys. Makes the booster look really rich. No one is gonna correct the record, so why not make it outlandish?

Even look at Addison all that money given to him for what he played in what half his teams games and on a team that went basically no where I'm just not getting why these boosters or whoever they are paying these kids ridiculous amount of money

I hope this "Kid" is a total bust and can't get on the field and sucks, just to laugh at the people paying him.
Oh come on. You can't blame a kid for taking advantage of a system he had nothing to do with establishing. If somebody promised you a $13 Million payday when you were 17 or 18 what would you do?

Is it really that crazy to believe that this kid could make $3.25 million per year? Lets assume it was a 4 year deal. That doesn't seem like a crazy high number for someone who is supposed to be elite to play QB in the SEC.

Would you want to give that much to a high school kid up front? What if he's a bust? Wasn't Max Browne a 5-star recruit?

No, no....totally legit that a HS kid going to a university is being promised more than a top MLB prospect's signing bonus.

That's surprising? College Football is the 2nd biggest sport in this country, ahead of MLB. Why wouldn't the #1 QB get paid more in a more popular sport than MLB?

I'd want my team to pay whatever the going rate is.
These fat cat boosters, how will they feel if they give a kid $13million at age 18 and by age 23 he's become Max Browne? Will they want to continue paying the next ones?

Why are they paying for new locker rooms, recording studios, barber shops, etc? Might as well put that money into the players. They realize there will be busts.

Just asking? It's their money, sadly for Pitt, if I was a billionaire, I wouldn't be handing millions of dollars over to a high school kid just because he could play football. I'd personally create a fund for regular students with no sports talent or full ride scholarships already to get help to avoid crushing debt.

could you imagine being a college QB getting this money and not even starting? I'd love it. but the question is, if a QB is getting that money, does the Head Coach HAVE TO start him, whether he earned it or not..

Boosters getting coaches fired for not playing players the booster paid for has been going on for over a 100 years.

A reported $13 mil for a HS kid; and O$U’s starting QB is rumored to have a $4 mil deal available for next year if he doesn’t declare for the draft.

Hummmm.

Oh, so what's the problem, then? If he had a contract, there shouldn't be any questions about him getting the money when he shows up.

It appears that the problem is that the Florida boosters have reneged on the deal. They want to sign him to a lesser deal, and they want him to agree as part of that that he won't sue to enforce the original deal. So far he and his family seem more likely to sue than agree to that.

Its all just promises until he becomes a UF student though. You cant sign a contract while a HS student as that would be a recruiting violation
