So far 4 true freshmen have been mentioned as standing out and likely to play this season.

  1. Davis - Composite Ranking #856
  2. Smith - Composite Ranking #1448
  3. Wayne - Composite Ranking #1509
  4. Dennis - Composite Ranking #3132

I assume your point is that the rankings are not very good at differentiating players ultimate abilities.

Are they the 4 highest in terms of composite rankings in Pitt's freshman class? Which players not standing out so much have higher composite rankings?

thats good these guys seem to be out performing their rankings

I have also heard good reports about Beville, Hill, and George. Also Goncalves has been impressive on the OL, Collier and Nelms seem to be good athletes for their size and Wright is settling in at tight end.

Ultimately i don't see many, if any, blowing their redshirts this year. Team seems pretty deep so if a true freshman is playing its probably because he's pretty good.

Man, I really didn't see it with Dennis. I thought he'd be an upperclassman contributor if at all. I'll cancel my miss on that one out with the fact that I predicted Vincent Davis to be our marquee back by the end of the season, though. Didn't he also mention George?

Leslie Smith, undersized FL LB - first commit of the year last year

3 of the 4 are at the very bottom of the team's recruiting rankings.

Good observations.

Duzz typically finds several diamonds in the rough. One thing about his recruiting that you cant knock is his eye for talent. If he was given the resources as the blue bloods, he would have no problem sporting top 15 classes.
