Two Panthers that need to be Steelers in 2017

1) James Conner. This is a no-brainer. As of now #26 Bell splits out wide a lot and is used in the passing game as an integral part. Conner has shown that he is capable of this. He is the type of back that the Steelers need to sign to back up Bell so that nothing is lost when Conner comes in for him. (Injuries, suspension, not ponying up the big bucks come contract time, etc.)

2) Nate Peterman. Lets face it....LANDRY JONES SUCKS! Big Ben has more years ahead of him, but the Steelers need to develop a QB behind him. Nate would be a 6th round pick, so he wouldn't be as big a draft investment as Jones was, and I believe if he sits a couple years could develop into a good (not Big Ben great QB). Worst case scenario, we develop a full time backup QB that is serviceable. Which is a lot more than we have had since Batch retired.

I'd be great with that, and add Price as well. He could mold into a player similar to Harrison.

Stillers don't like to draft these "types"

Lol....Rooneys love Penn State

Haven't heard that stupid narrative for awhile. The "non Pittsburgh PITT fan" used to love that one.

(Then they shut up when they realize the Steeler president went to PITT)

Remind me what loser from Ped State that the Rooney's tried shoving down the panthers throats? (Hint: You know the guy that Ron Cook has a hardon for)

Or how about who did they want to hire as HC before they chose Chuck Knoll? (Hint: Think enabler)

The Steelers will give Conner a great deal of consideration. Not only can the kid play, but he should be good in the PR room shielding attention away from Bryant and Bell's smoking history.

Peterman....probably not gonna get drafted by the Steelers.
Price....he's about as old as James Harrison :)
I wouldn't mind seeing any of Biz or DJ drafted, but Steelers OL is not a concern now, those guys should go high.

Jesse James has done MUCH better than I ever thought he would.

Conner.... must make it happen! Keep James home and make up for the Marino disaster!

Peterman....yeah nobody's arguing that, Landry Jones is awful. We need a much better backup.

Juan price... I think that's pretty obvious why. Heyward out, Ricardo Matthews is a freakin' starting de right now. No depth whatsoever on the dl.

By these types you mean ...

Pitt Panthers

The one big flaw in the Rooneys is their love of Ped State.
It's truly disgusting.
the Rooneys run a professional football franchise and hire folks for large coin to evelaute talent..32 two teams draft players in order. Their number comes up and they go with the next guy on their list. Odds of a Pitt guy or a Penn State guy for that matter matching that number is pretty rare. School love has nothing to do with anything...geez

Id tather they go to other teams, reason to follow other teams. Who hasn't been a cards fan past 10 years?
I haven't, I root for teams, not players. Sure, I like seeing Fitzgerald or McCoy "succeed" in general, but when they play the Steelers I want to see Steelers break there F'ing faces.

"Types"- not a rapist, not a drug addict, not an egomaniac. Overall decent humans are not the stillers "types".

Conner in 4th round for steelers would be sweet.. Not just because im a fan of his personally but for both sides.. Franchise bell, run him 40 times a game from now til the end of next year, literally run him so much that he will retire when he is 28, get all you can out of him then have JC in the 4th and I even like the FSU RB in the second round.. Draft your annual OLB bust in the first, get a MLB in the 3rd and Voila, you win the AFC north for the next 5 years..

not me, they are such a low class organization i usually don't care if they win or lose, but alwasy want pitt guys to beat them.
initially it was just the hypocrisy of worshiping woman beaters and a rapist yet slamming everyone else for the slightest transgression, but the nfl as a whole has worn thin on a lot of us.

Cool, I'd rather win the most Super Bowls than be moral. Maybe Pitt should take a lesson from them and quit watching all the championship games on TV.

I don't care "what" the players are, I root for the uniforms and the colors-not the people in them, screw "morality", I'm immoral myself, why be a hypocrite?.

Agree with both, but add one more much needed even more......Pitt's Tight End Scott Orndoff, is another Heath Miller but may be better.

Scott can Catch, Block, Run, and Throw?

Jesse James can't block and drops balls, like most at Penn State, Great College Recruits but end up Average NFL Players or NFL Busts.

you rape chicks and beat them? well at least you own it i guess?

I agree OL, WTF Pitt79? I guess every person is immoral in their own way but there are defiantly different levels. Where is your line Pitt79, would you be ok with Ped St level immoral if it meant Pitt won a National Championship or 2?

I find it hard to believe you could be this big of a douchebag if it weren't for the anonymous nature of message boards.

I find it weird that adults care so much about what the athletes do off field.. If you were 12, ok then I could see it. Extremely odd to me that you could care less what happens in off season though. Do you get upset when a pitt player gets arrested with a drunken hit and run in south side? Did you quit rooting for blair when he was driving under the influence at a very high rate of speed, endangering anyone on road? Did you weep when a former pitt player threw a guy thru a door in south side? WHen some pitt player punches his girlfriend on campus? When 3 players pull a fire alarm/sprinkler at Hemmingways that cause water damage?

Does it bother you that as an adult, you get upset about players and their off field transgressions when they could absolutely care less about you? Time to grow up folks, take the posters down off the wall and live your own lives..

Imagine having this mentality towards pitt football in the 80's? You'd hate the whole team. Didn't ironhead beat up a kid with a crutch? How many players got arrested for fighting cops at the O

of course he is fine with paterno getting back the wins, i mean he was never "arrested, tried, proven, jailed" and pitt79 is a lot of things, but no hypocrite!

No, really, I don't care anything about who the players are, they aren't my friends, they aren't my brothers, we aren't going out for a beer together after the game, I don't root for people, I root for teams. I went to the Steelers replacement game in '87, it mattered as much to me as the regular games.

As long as they are free on bail, I want whoever kicks ass in my lineup for my personal entertainment. It's not a morality play, it's an ENTERTAINMENT TV SHOW. Do people not show up for a Stones concert because Keith Richard shot up heroin before the show? No! SAME THING for me. Do people not watch Charlie Sheen's work because he's a general Fck up? No! SAME THING for me.

Honestly, I don't concern myself with who these people are as human beings, for me, it's just a TV show and I want the best performance possible, I won't feel better if they are choir boys and lose, JUST WIN BABY.

Never seems like they draft Pitt players. They get the occasional Nit, like Jesse James (who can't block and drops his fair share of passes... not that I root for him not to succeed)
The OP is on the money!
Steelers don't draft well and thats why they have limited bench strength. How many times do you hear the announcer mention due to injuries the Steelers are struggling at a position/no depth.
What they lack are scouts who find late round draft picks that will fit into their system, and have been shuffled down the draft order for some reason!

I was in Zelda's one night watching the police drag Fralic away after he turned some kid's face into a bloody pulp. never made news! Ah, those where the days! LOL.

The point being I agree, who these people are means nothing to me. I don't hold them up as a role model to my kid, why would I? They shouldn't be role models. Relatively speaking, they get paid a lot, but their jobs are LESS IMPORTANT than most of ours. they are just TV entertainment, like Dancing with the Stars or The Walking Dead. Who cares what standards they uphold when your not watching their TV Show.

I hate the concept of "vacated wins", it shouldn't exist, games where reality, they happened. I hate the concept of denying REALITY.

damn Pitt79, I honestly feel exactly the same way. I find it weird that others feel differently. these guys, pitt and steelers, are there to entertain me for 3 hours a week, absolutely nothing more. On their free time, they could feed the homeless or eat kittens for all I care.. Not sure why others don't feel this way.

I must admit, I do get pissed when these guys get arrested but only if it leads to a suspension, directly effecting my weekly entertainment.. I guess people are star struck and want to be a part of these celebrities lives on a personal level.

I suppose the scouts can walk down the hall at their own complex to scout the Pitt players? Maybe being around them all the time actually works against them?

What I question about you is not your challenge of fandom or idolatry. What I question about you is your lack of context and your constant embarrassing celebration of always taking the low road.

I actually met Fralic and Van pelt at peters, before the '94 brawl. I was 18, did the "hi guys, im a big fan" and just stood there awkwardly. they were nice enough til my older bro grabbed me and told me to quit being a dbag.

Exactly, I was pissed at LeVeon Bell, not for smoking the weed, but for the suspension. If I knew he was smoking weed, if I was smoking it with him and he never got cut, I wouldn't care. I only care when it might effect the game outcome.

I also hate when my team self sanctions, like suspending players when a higher body doesn't force them to. OH, fine Artis broke "team rules" suspend him for the opening tap, then put him in at the 1st whistle. If it's not bad enough for the league to take an action, don't punish yourself.

The Steelers are PoSU homers. I'll bet they draft that TE from Penn State. Every once in a while they will give a Pitt kid a chance, but they seem to like them better.

Why can't sports just be treated like every other entertainment option? That's the way I treat it. When did it become some morality play where you have to micro analyze the players lives outside the game time?

Nothing is different from the old days, the only difference is that in the old days, the cops would cover for the criminal players for a couple free game tickets.

Why bother having rules? It's just entertainment.
Who needs officials? It's just entertainment.

The Rooneys love PSU - spend some time with the organization and that is readily apparent. However, they dont dislike Pitt. Its more of a neutrality.

As far as cheering for Pitt players across the NFL - I definitely do. I mean, if the Rams are playing the Raiders, it gives me an easy way to pick who to cheer for.
