Two Panthers that need to be Steelers in 2017

Why bother having rules? It's just entertainment.
Who needs officials? It's just entertainment.

Stupid comment, apples and oranges. The game itself needs a structure. The morality level of the players away from the field doesn't matter. Keith Richard can shoot heroin before the concert, he still needs to play the right notes for the concert to entertain.

I think sports are different because people tend to identify with their home-town team. You feel an allegiance and that they represent you and your city. Therefore, their morality is relevant. Few people feel that with musicians.

That being said - no team is going to have a roster full of saints (except in NO - sorry bad joke). In any walk of life, when you get 70 guys together, a handful are going to be jerks. I think what is more telling is where an organization sets the morality bar.

Wait...the game needs structure? But you always say "just win". If a game isn't a "morality play"...why bother having rules at all? It's just entertainment. Who needs eligibility requirements? Just the best athletes so that is most entertaining.

You say it all the time champ, Pitt doesn't cheat enough. So, if your solution is ignoring rules...why bother having them at all? After all, it's just entertainment.

On the field, off the field...what matter does it make?
Just win. It's just entertainment.

damn Pitt79, I honestly feel exactly the same way. I find it weird that others feel differently. these guys, pitt and steelers, are there to entertain me for 3 hours a week, absolutely nothing more. On their free time, they could feed the homeless or eat kittens for all I care.. Not sure why others don't feel this way.

I must admit, I do get pissed when these guys get arrested but only if it leads to a suspension, directly effecting my weekly entertainment.. I guess people are star struck and want to be a part of these celebrities lives on a personal level.
hmm, reminds me of my opinion of the Hollywood knuckleheads who tell me how I should vote...you are well paid minstrels for my entertainment and nothing more...

don't even get me started on that.. hey pop singer with a nice rack, I care about the tightness of your shirt, my 8 year old daughter thinks your music is cool, relax on telling me your opinions on foreign policy and immigration control.

soothing sounds of sweet baby james and the blue collar lyrics of the boss are great, lets leave it at that..

The game would be unwatchable and lose the entertainment value without some rules, what the people do off the field between games means nothing to me. But even during the game, you should figure out how to stretch the rules to the limit, never care about the "spirit of the rule", look for ways to cheat the rule without breaking the rule.

The Rooneys love PSU - spend some time with the organization and that is readily apparent. However, they dont dislike Pitt. Its more of a neutrality.

As far as cheering for Pitt players across the NFL - I definitely do. I mean, if the Rams are playing the Raiders, it gives me an easy way to pick who to cheer for.
" spend some time with the organization and that is readily apparent." uh, apparent how? do they walk around in Penn State sweatshirts and have 409 stickers on their bumpers?

From the way they conduct themselves, how they discuss PSU when it becomes a topic of conversation, who they invite to visit the facility, where their interest lies, etc. Basically, the same way you figure out most things in life.
