is this cat gonna be the NFL rookie of the year? Cincy is raving about this guy. It's a shame many Pitt fans doubted whether he would have a successful career in the NFL.

How cool would it be to have ROY - Boyd and Defensive MVP - Donald.

Nobody with a clue doubted he would do well, but the question was would he be a #1 or #2 WR.

You should have been in the Scout discussions where people said he would not last more than a few years. That he didn't have enough speed to get open, didn't have enough speed to get downfield and would be a #2 at best if on the right team.

Thats how I saw it. I honestly still don't see him as a number 1 WR in the NFL. I have said along he will be a good number 2. I expect if he wants to he can play for a long time in the NFL.

You need a great #2 to have a great receiving corps.

So with 32 NFL teams out there, you all think that the best he'll ever be is the 33rd best WR in the NFL? Saying he won't be a Brown, Bryant, Jones, Beckham, Green, Hopkins is one thing, but to say he won't be a #1 on another team is something I can't agree with. Too many teams have crappy or average at best WR's out there.

ONLY THE YINZERS DOUBTED EVERYTHING IN PITTSBURGH FOR THE LAST 50 YEARS. THOSE WHO KNOW; KNEW HE WAS A SUNDAY PLAYER. LIKE DEVIN STREET AND EVEN BETTER.

He won't be rookie of the year only because Zeke Elliot is going to touch the ball every 3rd snap and has the best offensive line in the league. Boyd will maybe touch it 5-8 times per game. He'll have a big impact for the Bengals but he just won't have the same volume as Elliot. Goff will also be a good contender.

Still, Boyd is going to be a very good player and Dalton will really love him on the intermediate stuff when AJ Green takes the top off the defense. I see Boyd as an Anquan Boldin type - not as big but better hands and route-running. I think that he's going to have a long, successful NFL career.

Well he has a chance for sure. Regardless he seems to be transitioning to.the NFL well just like most Pitt graduates.

This is the only correct answer.

Tyler Boyd will be causing havoc among the Steeler's covering him, he will pick up that First Down that keeps Bengal's dr9ives alive. Broke Fitzgerald Record caught pass after pass after being Doubled Team, Smacked in the face, and held onto and out jump anyone for the ball.

If Matthews can be just 30%-40% of what Tyler Boyd did at Pitt, Pitt will have a another great Wideout this and next 2 years.

Smart Recruits choose Pitt!

You must not have watched any of his game film....but I digress. Are you a number 1 or 2 at your job?

That isn't really how it works. It is like being a "#1 starter" in MLB. When people are saying that, they mean whether the guy is/could be a legitimate #1 on a playoff team. Same with a #1 WR. People are talking about clear top WRs on playoff contending teams/top offenses.

Is Ervin Santana a "#1 Starter" just because he is the Twins best pitcher?

Was Dorial Green Beckham (traded for a backup G last week) or Kendall Wright a "#1 WR" just because they led the Titans WRs?

I don't think Boyd will ever be elite or a true "#1 WR" but can be a very good #2 for a top offense and play for a long time. I wish it wasn't for the Bengals, but I'd count on him making Pitt proud.

And picking a preseason rookie of the year is as accurate as picking the preseason all pro team. All depends on who is healthy. If ginger goes down, then Boyd will have a rough season. Same with the OSU back... backs tend to get injured.

He got really lucky, like Shady did, in landing in a REALLY good situation.

Cincy just has a really nice offense for WRs, he has a vet QB who likes throwing downfield and he has a stud number one WR that teams are going to focus on.

Totally agree with this, and it's going to help him go very far. Don't forget about Eifert who draws a lot of coverage over the middle and Gio who can catch it out of the backfield. Boyd will see single coverage on more or less every snap and the talent around him will help him start off on the right foot with respect to production.
