Boyd may very well be Pitt's 2nd greatest receiver ever, but he doesn't belong in the same conversation as Fitz. I can't say I've seen a college receiver any better than Larry Fitzgerald.
You are right, Ron Cook and Smizyk (the experts) have a different look on this.Boyd may very well be Pitt's 2nd greatest receiver ever, but he doesn't belong in the same conversation as Fitz. I can't say I've seen a college receiver any better than Larry Fitzgerald.
What would you call it??What? Just because they couldnt get him the ball doesn't mean he disappeared. I don't think that is fair at all to say he disappeared.
Well, A WR depends on so many others just to have a chance to make plays. Fitz was double teamed all night long, not to mention that he was covered by a 1st round draft pick. Also, Rod Rutherford was pressured all night (He was sacked several times) Pitt couldn't run the ball and Miami pretty much ran the ball at will and controlled the clock. He really didn't have the opportunity to make plays. Miami just imposed their will on Pitt that night. What would you call it??

When you say he disappeared, its sounds like you are putting it on him that he didn't put up big numbers, and that just isn't fair, imo. You could say Fitz "disappeared" in AZ after Kurt Warner retired. Truth is, he was still the same great player, he just didn't have near the opportunities.
Don't be silly.Fitz was great but he disappeared in some big games. Look up 2003 Miami game if you need reminded.. Boyd absolutely deserves to be in the same category.. An argument for the ages no doubt but let's not get carried away here.
