UCLA-Gonzaga

I hear you but that was a little better than a garbage heave. He did shoot that ball. No bank called I’m sure but that wasn’t a desperation throw.

The bank is what made it garbage, in my opinion. He obviously didn't mean to do that. To me, that just makes it a poor way to decide such a great game. It'd be like a baseball game ending on an infield single or someone in golf hitting a flying dove on a bad shot and dropping it on the green.

I used to feel much the same way about Cronin that you do, for many of the same reasons you do. But he's grown on me.

I really liked his comments about Pitt after they beat us in the 13-14 season. Pure respect for Pitt and Dixon at the time.
Absolutely. I'll never forget it, And he was totally stand up after the brawl between Cincy and Xavier, when Mack was not. I love him. He's a hell of a coach.

Hope it's a good game on Monday but conflicted on who to root for - really like Few's program and Baylor feels very dirty to me. So I guess it's the Zags!!

Had mentioned on here a couple times I had a 250-1 ticket on UCLA. Hedged some at a nice price tonight but would’ve been worth quite a bit more had they made it to Monday, just a brutal way to lose.

Best part is I can now root for Gonzaga to win.

Oh don’t get me wrong. I understand what you’re getting at. I’d have preferred a more traditional (for lack of a batter word) ending too. Definitely an odd way to end such a great game.

I agree.

And he's certainly proven that he is a top coach during this run, and I suspect he'll have UCLA back among the top 15 or so year in and year out.

I'm glad we get to watch the two best teams battle it out. But count me clearly as a Zags fan this year.

It was an appropriate ending since UCLA fought so hard

I can't root for Gonzaga to go undefeated. I just don't think they deserve to be recognized as one of the greatest teams of all time with that conference schedule. I've seen better blue blood teams that racked a few losses up. I know they played a brutal non-conference schedule, but you still can't erase those conference games.

Bruins played great all around, maybe the best shooting they have in them, but I credit their rebounding for putting them in a position to win. Limited the Zags to one shot all night and limited the fast breaks. Best game I watched in a long time.

Before the game it was almost universal that Gonzaga would blow out UCLA. Just gotta say man can Mick Cronin coach.

In that instance, it is not garbage. Running full speed, pull up from way out with man guarding u. The call bank there issue is null and void. Great shot

It helps that they shot lights out. Or at least it seemed that way... I don't know what the final percentages were. I don't know that I've ever seen Pitt play a game that could have kept up with either of these teams tonight. Only game I can think of was one against Villanova in the Big East Tournament years ago where we couldn't miss.

You know on replay -
The Suggs block on Campbell - was actually a foul and goaltend not called .
Suggs “blocked “ the shot inside the rim.
I might have to look at it again. I thought it was a very clean block. Didn't see a goaltend at all, but I wasn't looking for that either.

In real time I didn’t notice -
But during the highlights Suggs hand goes up inside the rim
He whacks him with his near arm and his off hand is inside the rim.

I don't know I think UCLA should immediately extend Cronin because that's 1 coach who deserves one.

Ehh, he got some of his hand, but to me could go either way. Certainly wasn't a bad missed call

The reply that was best was the one behind the backboard. I think it's real clear that the block was clean and exceptional, but like I said, I never looked for a goaltend.
